A little help here please. I remember reading a short story years ago and the premise was that the government was controlling people to make everyone the same. Stronger athletes were forced to wear weights so they wouldn’t outperform other athletes. Smarter people were forced to take drugs to limit their abilities. One man goes against the government and refuses to take the drugs and is pursued by the government. This ring a bell to anybody?
“This ring a bell to anybody?”
Was it the Democrat Party playbook?
“Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut
Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut.
It sounds like a Vonnegut story.
Others have noted it’s “Harrison Bergeron” by Vonnegut, which was also adapted for PBS in an anthology film of Vonnegut pieces, “Between Time and Timbuktu.”
I think you’re describing “God Bless You Mr. Rosewater” by Kurt Vonnegut.
