Obama's Maine Island Long Visited By Rich, Famous
Obama's Maine Vacation Destination Known As Summer Retreat For The Well-heeled And Well-known
BAR HARBOR, Maine (AP) - Serving as a summer retreat for Rockefellers, Vanderbilts and Morgans, this town and the surrounding area have long been known as a place where well-heeled and well-known visitors could beat the heat - and have their privacy respected.
President Barack Obama is the latest influential visitor to flee to Maine in search of a cool ocean breeze. When he arrives Friday for a three-day visit, he'll be the first sitting president to visit Mount Desert Island since William Howard Taft a century ago.
People in Bar Harbor, a town of 5,000 residents that bustles with tourists in the summer, say they are excited about Obama's visit.
But with the area's history of business barons, political power brokers and famous actors among them for generations, they're used to having the rich and famous in their midst. People in Maine, they say, aren't likely to get too flustered by the presidential visit.
"There are still famous and wealthy people all over the island, and their privacy is very much respected," said Craig Neff, owner of The Naturalist's Notebook, a shop in Seal Harbor village not far from where lifestyle maven Martha Stewart owns an estate originally built for automobile tycoon Edsel Ford. "If I were a billionaire, I would certainly appreciate it. It's always been that way."

This guy takes more leisure time than all other presidents combined.
Hopefully, he’ll take a dip and the camera’s will be rolling. Water temps this time of year are about 45F.
More shrinkage for an already shrinking President.
This article wins the award for most confusing headline of the day.
Meanwhile, I am annoyed that the SOB is going to close down roads and parts of the Park and foul up my vacation and the other people who drove umpteen hours to get here (to escape this kind of crapola). What am I saying? How selfish of me, this guy needs and deserves a vacation. It is not easy “never resting” when you are always “resting.” Being caught in a conundrum must be exhausting.
I thought O was going to vacation in the gulf? Oh, yeah, that’s right. That is pretty much ruined.
Why are we paying him $400,000/yr again?? If this is what being POTUS means, sign me up!! I’d love to be paid to be on vacation, play golf and have a drooling, swooning DBM at my beck and call to idolize my every word.
When does he have time to conduct the business of the United States? Or, is he just getting it all out of his system now in preparation for spending the rest of his natural life in Ft. Leavenworth??
It’ll be a mess considering how much of the park is one way, or served by limited roads. I would suggest that you consider a trip across the bay to the Schoodic Peninsula part of the park, or fleeing on the CAT for a few days.
The Won is also doing another vacation on Martha’s Vineyard this Summer! Why isn’t he going to the gulf? How many vacations does this guy get?
Why would a guy who never works need a vacation??? And Bar Harbor???? It’s a dump. Nothing but a honky-tonk tourist trap. Stores are garbage as are the restaurants. Acadia NP is beautiful. Let’s hope Hussein stays out! I don’t think I could ever eat a popover at Jordan Pond again if I new his soory ass had been there!
It seems that doing the job of leading the country is just too hard for BO to do alone. After all, we are reaching the two year mark. BO never worked more than two years at anything before...he is getting worn out. Except, as Senator he worked? [wrote two books about himself] for two years, then he began campaigning. Working got boring, I guess. Narcissists have very short attention spans, unless they are focusing on themselves.
Every jaunt by the Obamamarxists is targeted, calculated, planned and executed with a purpose.
Always follow the money when you follow Obama vacations.
Even though the stay is only for three days, there's ample time for him to play several rounds of golf with billionaire potential donors and for her to have exclusive luncheons with the wives and starry-eyed daughters of billionaire potential donors.
Let's call this island invasion for what it is......a working vacation.
There's no money to be gleaned or coerced from park rangers, wait staff and racoons at rustic Camp David.

He isn’t resting. It takes a lot of energy to vacation as hard as he does.
See my #12 post.
Same template applies.

One a week. If your golf game sucked as bad as his does, you'd need time away, too. After all, it's the only real "work" he's doing, and he sucks at it, too.

Check out this article, it’s right on the money.
Oh, he told everybody else to vacation on the Gulf Coast. What is he doing in Maine?
The CAT no longer runs. Hope and/or change ate it. We are going to head out of MDI early and go down to Rockland rather than fight this mess. We have to eat part of our rental, but it is better than being stuck on the island.
I read it three times and it still didn’t make sense.
ping for later
