I’m starting to think something’s wrong with me. Didn’t feel this one either.

You think you're weird....

I'm a native Californian, but I now live in Texas. I've got to admit that I get a sort of twinge of jealousy every time I hear about one of these quakes. I always feel like I should have been back home to experience it.

Weird, huh?

I missed the 89 quake by two weeks.

I was in England during the '89 NorCal quake. Had to call home half-way around the world to check on my parents and siblings.

Then, as luck would have it, I was in Baton Rouge, LA during the '94 SoCal quake. Called home again to check on the SoCal siblings.

I felt cheated out of my bragging rights both times. Weird, I know...

Wow, Ernest that's a lot of earthquakes. They're small but that's a whole lot. Also, good eye, you're right, the depths vary greatly.

The quake felt different to me anyway. Did you notice anything different?

Most of us just got a rolling motion...but those out in the Palm Springs general area and down in Imperial County got some sharper action.

See the comments on the thread.

Now that IS weird. LOL !!! Practically everyone I talk to looks at me like I’m nuts when I tell them I didn’t feel it. By most accounts it felt pretty strong.

I hate them, too. One here in So Cal, we were sleeping upstairs, baby in bed with us. It started shaking — the shutters were rattling, wood frame, lots of movement. I made to leap out of bed, but my husband, at the same time, threw himself on me and the baby to save us. hardihar. I got the biggest goose-egg shiner, right then. By the time we got to the front door/ dead end, where all the neighbors had gathered/ it was black and shiny. I sent him back to get a steak for my eye. For weeks I was telling the story, so people would know I was NOT a battered wife.

From the door, we watched the street rise and fall, like waves on the ocean. That was pretty unsettling.

The earthquake in Federal Way included the street whipping like a garden hose as well. The kids that were on the school bus that I would be riding to school said it was rocking from the left set of wheels to the right set a few times before it was over. That was a full size school bus. My mom was holding the kitchen cabinet doors shut so she wouldn't be showered with plates and glassware.

And if you cannot trust the GROUND, what can you trust? Our neighbor was a MSW, very professional. When we had EQs — we had several big ones during those few years — she would run outside in her pjs in hysterics, get in her car, and drive to Santa Barbara (2 hours away). It was usually in the middle of the night. Too funny.

Don't thinkI replied to you....after several days....as I remember...

It was just a soft motion,...no noise...just knew with motions in the room that something was happening.

Fron door moved a bit...vertical blinds moved a bit.

so I knew it was some distance away...wasn't alarmed but I knew we had a quake...and it was likely of some size.

so headed to my computer to see what the USGS had reported.
