(CNN) -- Sakineh Mohammadie Ashtiani, a mother of two, is waiting to die in Iran by a method of execution described by her lawyer as "barbaric" -- stoning.

She will be buried up to her chest, deeper than a man would be, and the stones that will be hurled at her will be large enough to cause pain but not so large as to kill her immediately, according to an Amnesty International report that cited the Iranian penal code.

"We have grave concerns that the punishment does not fit the alleged crime, " Assistant Secretary of State P.J. Crowley said Thursday. "For a modern society such as Iran, we think this raises significant human rights concerns."

A decent State Department would say outright that the punishment shows that Iran is not fit to be recognized as a civilized nation, and that should in fact be under colonial occupation by a Euro-American nation like the United Kingdom or even Russia. Maybe we should partition Iran between the U.S. and Russia; we get the oil, Ivan gets a warm water seaport, and the ordinary Iranians no longer have to live in fear of their lives. That is how the Great Powers would have handled this primitive garbage hole 100 years ago.

Also, Rudyard Kipling's "The White Man's Burden" was 100 percent correct, although the non-racist "Western Civilization's Burden" is more accurate and more appropriate today. The solution for Iran's religious judges? "Underneath the starry flag/ Civilize 'em with a Krag."

For a modern society such as Iran...

Oh, please, stop it. You're killing me! Yeah, Iran is a modern society, Lindsay Lohan is a virgin, and Obama didn't know what Reverend Wright was preaching.

This constant mis-characterization of the Religion of Peace is a concern to all progressive thinking people of the world. ONE VIEW

This is Islam. It means what it says and says what it means. A religion of peace? Not hardly. Allah another name for God. Not hardly. MY VIEW

And the feminists in our country are as usual totally silent.

The only thing they care about is keeping abortion and homosexuality legal.

And Obama thinks he can reason with these savages?

The only thing savages understand is swift and sure defeat at the hands of a more powerful force.

Similarly, I have always thought that Allah is the "Prince of Persia" menetioned by the archangel Gabriel in the book of Daniel. This entity (fallen angel? demon?) was powerful enough to hinder Gabriel for 21 days.

If you have a strong stomach, a quick Google search will find video of one of these ‘executions’.

The outcry from the “human rights” organizations on behalf of this woman is so silent it’s deafening.

Same here, and I have long felt that Satan founded Islam on ground covering a lake of oil to mess with God’s creation.

“In Washington, the State Department criticized the scheduled stoning, saying it raised serious concerns about human rights violations by the Iranian government.”

LoL. REALLY? “raised concerns”?
The State Dept is just now starting to be concerned that there may be human rights violations in Iran???

What an IDIOTIC statement

Alot of people agree with you. It's the fight between good and evil. The Bible tells us good will prevail but it's painful to read of this evil.

I can even see where they would have the right to have a death penalty in Iran for adultery, but for anyone to torture another before killing them is pure evil.

Unless they've tortured elderly, small children, innocent animals - then I'm all for the torture prior to death. Good thing I don't make the laws.

The CNN report is citing an Amnesty International report so there is not exactly a deafening silence. What interests me is the lack of an outcry from the Womyn’s groups.

I was thinking of the volume of outcry about illegal immigrants “rights” compared to this woman in Iran.

Death by stoning imminent for Iranian woman, attorney says

Where's the great statesman, Obama, (sarc) in speaking out against this vile and despicable barbaric punishment? Guess his teleprompter is off duty for however long it takes before the punishment is meted.

A decent State Department would say outright that the punishment shows that Iran is not fit to be recognized as a civilized nation, and that should in fact be under colonial occupation by a Euro-American nation like the United Kingdom or even Russia.

Crickets chirping at the White House while a revulsive punishment is being readied. Here's dear leader's chance to speak up to those "Middle Eastern Contacts and new friends" he's made by bowing to them. He could ask them to join with him in loudly proclaiming this act as barbaric (didn't he win the Nobel Peace Prize)?????????
