Was this the “keeping unemployment high” act?

I guess it’s good to know that if I loss my job that I won’t have to look for another one for at least 2 years.

Will the GOP in the Senate stand their ground in the face of media stories about starving families and homeless children, all caused by the heartless Republicans? I suspect they won’t.

No reason to look for a job if you can do it with benefits. Have the summer off with pay.

I pray that I find a job soon - but I have faith that I will and I’m treating it like a full-time job - FINDING my new job. Extending benefits doesn’t make anyone get off their arse to get to work!

Republican opponents argued that the $34 billion cost should be offset by taking unspent money from last year's economic stimulus program.

In case anyone missed it yesterday, the Democrats are saying they will NOT take the money from last year's almost trillion dollar "stimulus" program because... get ready .... they were saving that money for "job creation".

My question to that was, sooooooo when would be a good time for job creation?

The stupid party and the “Compassionate Conservatives” here must live down to the stereotype of being heartless and, well, stupid, don’t they. After all, stereotypes are usually true. There is plenty of pork to cut, the unemployment benefits are a drop in a bucket, and the job market really does look dismal there. Oh, and the RATS, not even trying very hard, find an easy way to make themselves look good and win.

Welcome to the U. S. S. A. There is no longer something known as unemployment. That concept has now been replaced by a guaranteed income.

99 weeks isn’t long enough to find a job? this is a disgrace to the taxpayers. Any republican that supports an extension will lose my vote.

If you are rich you give it to the government, if you are poor you take it from the government.

Why work?

This is not a hill that the Repubs want to die on. Lots of other issues that folks believe in, Cap and Trade, Amnesty for Illegals are 2 that I can think of right off the bat.

Contrary to what some folks think being "on the dole" is no vacation for most that I know. A fraction of your income but the bills stay the same.

I’ve been out of work for over two years. I was fortunate enough to plan for a rainy day and have kept my head above water through short term contract work and a hobby business. I am ACTIVELY Looking for a full time job. I have not collected UI for over six months and even then it was sporatic. I’m for cutting it off at 99 weeks.
Just my $.02

I'm a 52 year old female, and I'm not a well person. Four years ago, out of the blue, I started to suffer terrible neck pain. Two surgeries didn't help. Lupus followed which is a mixture of bad days and not so bad days. I tried to continue to work, but it became unbearable. I had work since high school.

I was approved for Social Security Disability a few months ago. With my husband's salary and my check, we make it. I remember how crazy it was when I got my approval paperwork, stating that I was disabled. Talk about mixed emotions. Of course I wish I never got sick, but having a check that I can count on sure takes the stress off an already terrible situation. Off topic, but just relating. I guess if you're going to become sick, do it while O-Blama is in office.
