The chorus of artists against Arizona continues to widen because of the state's upcoming immigration law.
The Sound Strike announced on its Web site that Nine Inch Nails and Maroon 5 are the latest acts to skip Arizona in response to the passage of SB 1070.
The Sound Strike says a boycott is the most effective form of noncompliance with a law that threatens the civil and human rights of everyday people living within the state.
The group says it has become clear that to perform in Arizona, with this divisive and unjust law on the books, is no longer a neutral act.
The law states that an officer engaged in a lawful stop, detention or arrest shall, when practicable, ask about a person's legal status when reasonable suspicion exists that the person is in the U.S. illegally.
I got pinked last week - so I’m in that club.
Any chance I can buy you lunch when I get into the State?
Fine, they can play in Mexico.
Don’t let the door hitcha where the good Lord splitcha!
It all depends on wheatheror not I find something local or end up a Tucson weeekend road runner of a PHX monthly road-runner. Since we both got Pinked if I can make it let’s go Dutch.
Yes, I am.
Nine Inch What? Maroon What? Who gives a flying f**k?
vaudine
I agree. Wouldn’t walk across the street to see them for free and would close the windows to not hear them! (Or make sure to not be around).
The Tucson Tweakers. No loss.
LOL!!! Other bands & celebs who have joined the strike...
- Anti-Flag
- Aztlan Underground
- Michael Moore
Ouch, Arizona is gonna be reeling from that list!
SB-1070.. Cleaning up social/environmental hazards.
The skill of his fiddle playing is rivaled only by that of his rope tricks.
I’m not an administrator so I don’t know their policy about self-advertisement.
But if you were to advertise here and I needed whatever you were advertising, I would buy it.
Just like in the days of the Non-Importation Agreement to oppose the Stamp Act, the Townsend Act and the Cohersive Acts, Americans have to stand together to oppose another Tyrant.
Meanwhile Arizona has Coldstone Creamery, Poore Bros. and Boulders chips, and Snyder’s Pretzels to start with. I think I am hungry.
NIN: what a washed up act .... big deal.
Great news for Arizona! Traveling entertainers suck money out of local economies, just like sports, retail, and fast food.
OK - I’ll freepmail ya when I get a good set of dates for the arr AO.
HOpe you can avoid the road-runner, that kind of commute is no fun....
No kidding, a minimum 90 minutes one way from TUC or a minimum 210 minutes one way from PHX.
