The chorus of artists against Arizona continues to widen because of the state's upcoming immigration law.
The Sound Strike announced on its Web site that Nine Inch Nails and Maroon 5 are the latest acts to skip Arizona in response to the passage of SB 1070.
The Sound Strike says a boycott is the most effective form of noncompliance with a law that threatens the civil and human rights of everyday people living within the state.
The group says it has become clear that to perform in Arizona, with this divisive and unjust law on the books, is no longer a neutral act.
The law states that an officer engaged in a lawful stop, detention or arrest shall, when practicable, ask about a person's legal status when reasonable suspicion exists that the person is in the U.S. illegally.
NIN has played both of the major arenas in OK in the last two years. They draw far better, and charge far more reasonable rates than a lot of bands.
Yep and a part of the O-Recovery; a laid off Military Contract worker.
OK, I had no idea. I thought they’d be playing on the casino circuit by now with Styx, etc...
Some group of musicians should start a band named SB1070.
“Yet again, fading celebrity artists jump on the liberal bandwagon cause du jour to jumpstart a dead career.”....
I agree....sad bunch of stale farts.
“Head like a hole . .”
He’s just singing the songs about teenage angst that most 40something year old American men won’t sing. Give Trent a chance!
BTW, honestly, you’d have to have lived in a bubble for the past 20 years to not know who NIN and the Maroon 5 are.

“Artists”. So what.
The chorus of everyday, patriotic, working Americans FOR Arizona continues to widen because of the state’s upcoming immigration law.
Shame -
I liked the song “hurt” by Trent Reznor (NiN), but only because Johnny Cash covered it.

All I could think of when I read the headline was just what you said. It’s like clockwork isn’t it??????????
Well, since NiN has stopped touring, I guess you could say they’re boycotting everyone!
Is there a list of bands that refuse to boycott AZ? Or that are deliberately playing there is support of SB1070?
Can’t imagine how Oak Creek Canyon, Grand Canyon, Tonto National Forest, Native American Montezuma’s castle, The White Mountains, Painted Desert, etc...how WILL they all survive???? Oh noooooooooooooo...rock bands won’t come to PHOENIX. I’m sure Arizona will fold. NOT!!!!
Awesome move, Arizona! Getting rid of cultural pollution as well as illegals!!
Not that I Know of.
Wow. Out of all those bands, I have only heard of nine inch nails.
What kind of dunce alienates over half of their potential fan base? Especially when that fan base is small to begin with.
If 14 other states are considering similar legislation, I hope they move on it soon. Arizona stands alone at the moment, and the more states that follow their lead, the more it will hit the pocketbooks of these “artists.”
I imagine when the only cities they can play in are Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York, they’ll learn the difference between believing in something because it’s what everyone else is doing, and believing in something because it echoes what your conscience tells you is fundamentally right.
