Source: Administration Weighs Bypassing Congress to Let Illegal Immigrants Stay
The Obama administration has been holding behind-the-scenes talks to determine whether the Department of Homeland Security can unilaterally grant legal status on a mass basis to illegal immigrants, a former Bush administration official who spoke with at least three people involved in those talks told FoxNews.com.
The Obama administration has been holding behind-the-scenes talks to determine whether the Department of Homeland Security can unilaterally grant legal status on a mass basis to illegal immigrants, a former Bush administration official who spoke with at least three people involved in those talks told FoxNews.com.
The issue was raised publicly by eight Republican senators who wrote to the White House on Monday to complain that they had heard the administration was readying a "Plan B" in case a comprehensive immigration reform bill cannot win enough support to clear Congress.
The White House would not confirm or deny the claim. But the former Bush official said the discussions are real.

“If the media did its job, we would never have been in this situation.”
That reminds me of something William Tecumseh Sherman said: “I hate newspapermen. They come into camp and pick up their camp rumors and print them as facts. I regard them as little more than spies, which, in truth, they are. If I had my choice I would kill every reporter in the world, but I am sure we would be getting press dispatches from Hell before breakfast.”
Speaker West sounds even better.
I don’t think that, in the end, WE will be the dead meat. The left is about to unleash something that will utterly stun them. They have no idea what they are about to let loose.
Despite this and the flaccid joke our CA GOP has become in the wake of Prop 187, and the 2008 loss of Latino votes who voted for Bush in 2004, McCain is saying he heard the voters and Pedro has got to go.
Never mind the fact that in 2008, every GOP candidate but McCain adopted a no-tolerance policy on illegal immigration and they all were rejected by the GOP primary voters.
I think McCain is likely to be re-elected anyways. I think if he held a grudge against the party he'd just quit. His shot at the Presidency is gone. He may indeed feel he is the best man to help stop 0. Graham just got re-elected 2 years ago unlike border zealots like Graf, Hayworth, Hostettler, DeLay, Pambo, and Bonilla in 2006. The border firsters have lost a lot of power since 2006 but McCain's and Graham's 2 votes ain't enough to pass a new amnesty. For that 0 will need a pass from the unions, who don't want to compete with unskilled cheap immigrants for their unskilled cushy union jobs. Democrats exempt unions in disclosure bill (drive-bys finally confirm what we've known all along)
“They will take guns away.”
Well, they can try. MOLON LABE!
Who’s going to stop us? LOL! You little people? LOL!
You wanted “Change” America. You got it. :)
Please ping me when your post is up. Do you live in Hawaii?
I tend to agree.
The SEIU -- who appears to have more clout with this administration than any other union -- is actively promoting amnesty.
Like you, I think McCain will probably win his primary. But I also believe that the illegal issue has become a much more powerful issue than it was in 2006 or '08.
Screw that amigo...
I will. No, I’m in Nebraska.
He looks decidedly..German.
Another line in the sand Conservatives will complain about yet will do nothing to correct.
...BO would never have darkened the doorway of the Oval Office.
Thanks very much for the ping. I’ve read the entire thread.
Be prepared.
So, it looks as if BO is set on abolishing the other two branches of government. Why bother with a Congress if he can write and sign his own laws?
