The federal government is shutting down the dredging that was being done to create protective sand berms in the Gulf of Mexico.
The berms are meant to protect the Louisiana coastline from oil. But the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department has concerns about where the dredging is being done.
Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, who was one of the most vocal advocates of the dredging plan, has sent a letter to President Barack Obama, pleading for the work to continue.

Can you find a link or video for that news? I was having a hard time finding any relavant news of this spill this morning. The news organizations and google are hiding the news of this spill now in order to protect Obama. I heard the report briefly on MSLSD and saw one brief video clip and that was it. It looked horrible. Black oil washing up in the Pensacola Beach area.
It is time to demand Obama’s resignation. This is a dereliction of duty..high crimes and misdemeanors and abuse of power.
Louisianians need to stand up and tell the USF&W dept to try and make them stop dredging and then post LA National Guard with the dredge machines. It’s obvious who wants to allow the damage to Louisiana to continue. Our federal government. It’s time to stand up to them. - OB1
