BP Oil Spill: Against Gov. Jindal's Wishes, Crude-Sucking Barges Stopped by Coast Guard
ABC ^ | 17 June 2010 | DAVID MUIR and BRADLEY BLACKBURN

Posted on 06/17/2010 4:24:50 PM PDT by Hoodat

Eight days ago, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal ordered barges to begin vacuuming crude oil out of his state's oil-soaked waters. Today, against the governor's wishes, those barges sat idle, even as more oil flowed toward the Louisiana shore.

"It's the most frustrating thing," the Republican governor said today in Buras, La. "Literally, yesterday morning we found out that they were halting all of these barges."

Sixteen barges sat stationary today, although they were sucking up thousands of gallons of BP's oil as recently as Tuesday. Workers in hazmat suits and gas masks pumped the oil out of the Louisiana waters and into steel tanks. It was a homegrown idea that seemed to be effective at collecting the thick gunk.

"These barges work. You've seen them work. You've seen them suck oil out of the water," said Jindal.

So why stop now?

This is what happens when you have an Alinsky-Cloward-Piven government in place. Obama wants all the tarnished shorelines and the brown pelicans he can get.

I don’t want to think about Obozo getting excited about “crude sucking barges” under his command....

btw, exactly how LONG does it take to check for simple things like life preservers???? this is supposed to be an environmental emergency of such historic proportions that Obozo has all these barges grounded and doing nothing..... what a competent administration.

“The Coast Guard needed to confirm that there were fire extinguishers and life vests on board, and then it had trouble contacting the people who built the barges.”

Idiotic

As of June 10, 2010, it’s good to know that the United States Coast Guard is still more concerned about their Diversity Action Plan than doing all they can to expeditiously clean up the oil spill:

Obama's Coastal Police Assault the GOP States Again

How much more evidence do Americans need to witness that Obama is committing Gulf genocide on those Americans down there in coming up with some asinine rule of fire extinguishers which could have been solved by dictator me in taking the ordnance out to the barges.

Could you imagine at Pearl Harbor if FDR had stopped rescue work, because the Coast Guard needed to check if fire extinguishers were on board the rescue boats?

Could you imagine at the Twin Towers if George W. Bush had stopped rescue work to make sure that the fire department had certified oxygen tanks for their hazmat suits?

WTF couldn’t the coast guard board each barge and spend 10 minutes confirming the presence of life jackets and fire extinguishers?

It is CLEAR that this was an intentional stall.

I’m shocked that abc is reporting it!

It won’t get any traction with the diehard libs.
Obama will simply DENY that he was ever notified of it, and will again promise Jindal that he can call him direct.

The libs will believe Obama (and/or will defend him whether they believe him or not).

the destruction of the coast is part of a strategy...this administration is attacking the US literally!

Someone finally get's it. Barry is not just incompetent, Barry wants to leave office with the UNITED STATES literally broke, with the military in shambles and with America in civil war.

Ask yourself the question,

if Barry was trying to hurt the country, could he do it any better?

The answer is a solid no!

Barry is hurting the country in every way he can all and the leftist press supports our "historic" President instead of telling us the truth.

“what’s in store for other regions of the US? How will he do the same for the rest of the country?”

Two words: Marcellus Shale...

Runs through at least 4 states, I believe. Not to mention the other natural gas pockets in the country. All it will take is one really horrible accident and he’ll be seizing the natural gas industry, too.

Wonder how long before something “accidental” happens and Zero’s administrtion tries to eff us somehow whit that.

Since he’s making the entire country hate him, left, right, AND middle, I can’t imagine he’s doing this on purpose.

It’s gonna come to blows real soon. I can feel it.

The fuse has certainly been lit.

It’s very simple. They can’t have anything that actually works. This is pure and simple sabotage, so they’ll continue to make sure a crisis doesn’t go to waste.

That still doesn’t explain the seeming intention to let the environmental destruction be as worst as possible. Remember, this kind of crap is a SLAP IN THE FACE to his core constituency, the group to whom the environment is the goddess.

Thanks God fgor Bobby Jindal. He seems to be the only government person down there with a lick of damned sense and the balls to get anything done! Keep it up Governor...if you don’t obama is going to destroy your state to make a point to the rest of the world and to justify his radical eco-agenda.

Hah.

I just heard on our local talk radio station during their news break that “The Coast Guard is ramping up their efforts in the Gulf Coast”. And that was all, no further news, just a headline. I just got off this thread before I went to lunch and thought my head was going to explode after hearing that.

Now that I’m back, I emailed this ABC article to the radio station.

I totally agree. Obama doesn’t want the mess cleaned up, he wants it to become so catastrophic that it pushes his agenda toward ‘green’ fuels forward. LIAR, LIAR, LIAR!

I hope he runs against Obama. We need men of action and I would love to see him face off in a debate with Obama.
I'm with you 100%. Did you know that Jindal was involved in an exorcism when he was a college student? And did you know that Fr. Thomas J. Euteneuer (who spoke of Jindal in regard to the oil spill and his requests) IS an exorcist? I feel a battle coming on -- good vs. not-so-good.
I could not pray to God. I tried as hard as I could, but I couldn't. Out of desperation, I called upon the saints to articulate my prayers and rescue me from this living nightmare. Though I had never prayed with the saints before, I began to understand the Church's teaching of the unity within the One Body. I pleaded with the saints in Heaven to offer God the prayers I was unable to formulate. Even I felt confident enough to approach God once again; Susan's lunge for the door awakened and invigorated me. Strangely, I found myself repeating the Hail Mary until it became a chant. Being a recent convert to Catholicism, I had yet to accept the Catholic doctrines concerning Mary and considered any form of Marian devotion to be idolatry. Though I had never before prayed a Hail Mary in my life, I suddenly found myself incapable of any other form of prayer. Somehow, Mary's intercessions allowed me to find peace during that long night; I knew that I had survived the worst and that I would exit with my faith intact. It terrified me to recall how close I came to turning away from Christ out of fear. I left that classroom with a powerful belief in Mary's intercessions and with many questions about spiritual warfare; I also learned a lasting lesson in humility and the limits of human understanding. Was the purpose of that night served when so many individuals were inducted into the Church? Did I witness spiritual warfare? I do not have the answers, but I do believe in the reality of spirits, angels, and other related phenomena that I can neither touch nor see. -- Physical Dimensions of Spiritual Warfare, by Bobby Jindal/New Oxford Review, 12-94

I am not quite sure what constitutes "crude sucking",

Nor am I, but you've got Barney Frank's and Chrissy Matthews' and Keith Olbermann's attention.

What should be in place is threaten the Brits if you don’t fix this now, we ‘fix’ the gulf stream and you guys go back to growing icicles in your gardens.

An astonishing ignorant post. The ownership of BP is roughly 50% American. Also: it is not a national or sovereign oil producer.

And if it was, BP might do what PEMEX did in 1979 and refuse to pay a dime, citing sovereign immunity.

Here's a reinforcing example for you. Union Carbide killed thousands of people in the Bhopal disaster. Has the US paid for that yet? No - because it wasn't America's fault.

The same principle applies in the Gulf, with far less death and devastation - except for that created by Obama's ban on drilling of course.
