BP Oil Spill: Against Gov. Jindal's Wishes, Crude-Sucking Barges Stopped by Coast Guard
ABC ^ | 17 June 2010 | DAVID MUIR and BRADLEY BLACKBURN

Posted on 06/17/2010 4:24:50 PM PDT by Hoodat

Eight days ago, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal ordered barges to begin vacuuming crude oil out of his state's oil-soaked waters. Today, against the governor's wishes, those barges sat idle, even as more oil flowed toward the Louisiana shore.

"It's the most frustrating thing," the Republican governor said today in Buras, La. "Literally, yesterday morning we found out that they were halting all of these barges."

Sixteen barges sat stationary today, although they were sucking up thousands of gallons of BP's oil as recently as Tuesday. Workers in hazmat suits and gas masks pumped the oil out of the Louisiana waters and into steel tanks. It was a homegrown idea that seemed to be effective at collecting the thick gunk.

"These barges work. You've seen them work. You've seen them suck oil out of the water," said Jindal.

So why stop now?

That would do no good. He should get his own guard, and after that, hold a press conference, call breitbart and fox to air it, and ask zero WHY he is blocking every working effort to clean up the spill!!

Apparently 24 hours...

How much oil is spewing into the gulf??? Per day???

I would think that BP should write that 24 hours off its books, and put that smack dab on a silver platter on the front porch at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

I kinda thought the Coast Guard had more sense than this...Regardless of the situation...

But hey...Looks who’s in charge...

I rest my case...

He absolutely has handlers. But don’t kid yourself, this is his plan too.

I hope he runs against Obama. We need men of action and I would love to see him face off in a debate with Obama.

I'm with you. I love the guy, and I'm convinced he's going to be President someday. That said - he's GOT to get over this thing where he uses the word "literally" in practically every sentence.

If this were the Bering Sea, I could maybe see their point, but this smacks of nothing but governmental stupidity.

Calling Uncle BO in Washington to tell the Coast Guard to stand down made it even worse. Did you really think he'd be there for you? Do you not understand that these sorts of orders come from the very top?

AMEN!

He might as well just go play golf all day every day, for all the impact he’s had on managing this disaster.

Imagine, if you will, if Bush had been confronted by the BP oil spill.

Don't you imagine that he would've moved decisively to take action to mitigate the effects? The Dutch skimmer boats would've been immediately accepted, ample boom would've been purchased and deployed, the Jones Act would've been suspended. The silly actions of the EPA would've been reversed.

It's conceivable that very little oil would've reached the shoreline or fouled the fisheries.

Why would Bush have been successful with the BP oil spill...and not with Katrina? First off, he would've had a free hand to deal with the problem -- not like Katrina, where he was forced to work thru incompetents like Nagin and Blank-oh.

The problem here is that the Constitution handed over control of the navigable waters to the federal government. The Governor knows this.

So, what to do? ~ or, more realistically, what to do short of insurrection?

The oil continues to pour out, the federal government continues to do nothing to stop it, sounds to me like someone needs to go to federal district court and ask for an injunction against the federal government which will stop them from further dwadeling ~ maybe an injunction to prohibit the Coast Guard from preventing the state of Louisiana from protecting itself.

Just thinking of how Coast Guard would answer the request ~ at least we could start putting a face on the fascists in the Obama regime who are trying to destroy the country.

They have families. They have friends. They have neighbors. Certainly they'd not care to be hiding out the rest of their lives ~ so they'd have to provide some sort of rational answer to what amounts to a serious crime against the nation.

The EPA and environmental nazis (and so-called whistleblowers) have been working this out against BP in its Alaska operations.

Even Putin and Jintao are laughing at us over the response. Gorbachev did not botch Chernobyl that badly. And when things fail in Russia or China, heads roll.

Jindal is not a Natural Born citizen. His parents, at the time of his birth, were still citizens of India.

He is a natural born U.S. citizen like Obama.

The problem here is that the Constitution handed over control of the navigable waters to the federal government. The Governor knows this.

So, what to do?

Get those vacuum boats back in the water and force the Coast Guard to make them stop through means of sheer force - THEN make the federal government explain to the nation WHY they did that.

The Governor should not have backed down to idiotic legalities and process - he should have done what any real leader would do, and that is protect his state and his people at whatever cost.

Just as in Arizona, when the federal government REFUSES to do the job that it is constitutionally mandated to do, then the Governors of those states MUST take back that responsibility from their failed central government, and DO WHAT MUST BE DONE TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY.

Soon enough, it will become apparent to everyone in this country that Barack Obama won't protect any border state, or any Gulf Coast state from those things that truly menace them.
