Eight days ago, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal ordered barges to begin vacuuming crude oil out of his state's oil-soaked waters. Today, against the governor's wishes, those barges sat idle, even as more oil flowed toward the Louisiana shore.
"It's the most frustrating thing," the Republican governor said today in Buras, La. "Literally, yesterday morning we found out that they were halting all of these barges."
Sixteen barges sat stationary today, although they were sucking up thousands of gallons of BP's oil as recently as Tuesday. Workers in hazmat suits and gas masks pumped the oil out of the Louisiana waters and into steel tanks. It was a homegrown idea that seemed to be effective at collecting the thick gunk.
"These barges work. You've seen them work. You've seen them suck oil out of the water," said Jindal.
So why stop now?

I hope he runs against Obama. We need men of action and I would love to see him face off in a debate with Obama.
Barry must have given the order to make them stop. After all it is working and HE didn’t come up with the idea so he can’t take credit.
Coasties better be careful and remember what happened when another military power tangled with P.O.’d Louisiana Boys at the Battle of New Orleans.
Besides, even if they have to check for life jackets and fire extinguishers why not check the boats one at a time and have a supply to give them if they need them. This is suppose to be an emergency.
Un-&^%&^-believable...
Federal F***ups.... One of Zero’s buddies must have a contract to study the situation.
The new reality of change.
It’s gonna come to blows real soon. I can feel it.
“The Coast Guard needed to confirm that there were fire extinguishers and life vests on board”
JEEZ LOUISE! How long does it take to board and inspect 16 barges for life jackets and fire extinguishers whan you’ve got THE ENTIRE US MILITARY AT YOUR DISPOSAL????
Send in BOY SCOUTS for GODSAKE.
Coast Guard Commander= obama tool
And the msm focuses on ‘small people’ bullship and then moves on the ‘shakedown’ bullship.
Will we allow them to get away with this?
This is just more proof that the destruction of the coast is part of a strategy...this administration is attacking the US literally!
"The Coast Guard needed to confirm that there were fire extinguishers and life vests on board"
Really? They were worried about fire extinguishers and life vests?
oh yes, and small plaques mounted on every head stating “NO DISCHARGE UNDER PENALTY OF LAW”
This entire situation is SO STUPID and immature. Where are the %^&$%^%$^% grown ups????
Drudge has the story breaking hard in red headlines. It should get traction.
FUBO...FOBO and fed “union” gov...we need to rid ourselves of this BS...the sooner the better...a call to _ _ _ _!
So...what if the barges ignored the Coast Guard. Are they going to ‘open fire’ ?? Somebody needs to push this to the breaking point.
TRIED to reach the White House??? Given the gravity of this situation, it shouldn't take the governor of an affected state more than a few minutes to get through to a responsible party at the White House who can see to it that his concern is addressed very promptly.
Absent and immediate and acceptable response from the White House, Jindal should have put out a call to the citizen militia to defend the barges and their continuing activity. The heck with "authority" to overrule the Coast Guard. Lousiana's governor and citizens have every right to defend the state's land from this extremely destructive assault by an offshore pollutant.
I'm beginning to think it may not be incompetence and bureaucratic red tape that's stalling action.
Instead, I'm beginning to think that Obama wants this disaster to become a catastrophe. He wants to destroy the economies and the people of Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. They are, after all, the enemy -- red states.
And he wants to destroy the oil industry (but we already knew that).
Incompetence? Or malevolence? Which is it?
