This morning, Bob Beckel appeared on the Fox News Channel to comment upon Helen Thomas' recent rabidly anti-Semitic remarks about Israel and Jews. To my astonishment, Beckel defended Thomas' remarks as "part of the free speech we Americans enjoy." When asked if Thomas should be fired by Hearst, Beckel went on to say that that was up to Hearst, but that the First Amendment guaranteed her the right to slander Jews and Israel while she worked as Grand Dam of White House reporting/commentary. I don't know whether Beckel is also a Jew hater or that he is incapable of criticizing a fellow Liberal. Either way, his opinions are now officially worthless.
Even for Beckel, this was a stretch. I have emailed Beckel about this and await his reply.
It’s worse than that. It’s like telling blacks to go to extermination camps. Anybody who has any inkling of what happened to Jews under the Nazis knows that it’s an obscenity to tell them to go back to Germany and Poland.
In addition to his sick, sorry resume.....do we remember the pretty little gal, Hannah Giles, who worked undercover with James O'Keefe in filming and exposing the Acorn scandals, including the tapes exposing Acorn's connections with child prostitution?
Well, the dirty-minded Bob Beckel later referred to Hannah as a "ho" on national television. When chided by the panel for calling her that he replied, "well, she played one very convincingly (on the tape)."
Beckel also worked on RFK's presidential campaign committee. No surprise there.....Marilyn Monroe, anyone?
That doesn't protect her "right" to a job - there is no such right.
It's perfectly OK for Hearst to fire her for her speech.
It's not an issue of free speech.
It's PAID speech. Hearst is PAYING her for her speech. If Hearst continues to PAY her for her speech we can only conclude that Hearst likes what she says.
Hearst? Let her spout her venom on her own dime, not yours.

We've all seen what happens when the media goes into a feeding frenzy over a conservative comment, and we've seen it several times. The MSM is disgustingly biased.

My only point was that her speech is indeed protected by the first amendment, and Beckel wants to set up this strawman.
If she had said that against gays or Muslims or Mexicans the press and Beckle would be calling for her head

Yes, Bob, that's right. She does have the right to speak her mind. But in so doing she's verifying to us that she does not have the ability to be an objective reporter and that we should treat any reporting she does as a mixture of opinion and propaganda.

I was trying to build on your statement that she isn't entitled to use her position with Hearst (or anywhere) to spew hatred in their name.
My post was intended more as an open letter to Hearst.
