This morning, Bob Beckel appeared on the Fox News Channel to comment upon Helen Thomas' recent rabidly anti-Semitic remarks about Israel and Jews. To my astonishment, Beckel defended Thomas' remarks as "part of the free speech we Americans enjoy." When asked if Thomas should be fired by Hearst, Beckel went on to say that that was up to Hearst, but that the First Amendment guaranteed her the right to slander Jews and Israel while she worked as Grand Dam of White House reporting/commentary. I don't know whether Beckel is also a Jew hater or that he is incapable of criticizing a fellow Liberal. Either way, his opinions are now officially worthless.
Even for Beckel, this was a stretch. I have emailed Beckel about this and await his reply.

“Odd,” said Arthur, “I thought you said it was a democracy.”
“I did,” said Ford. “It is.”
“So,” said Arthur, hoping he wasn’t sounding ridiculously obtuse, “why don’t the people get rid of the lizards?”
“It honestly doesn’t occur to them,” said Ford. “They’ve all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they’ve voted in more or less approximates to the government they want.”
“You mean they actually vote for the lizards?”
“Oh yes,” said Ford with a shrug, “of course.”
“But,” said Arthur, going for the big one again, “why?”
“Because if they didn’t vote for a lizard,” said Ford, “the wrong lizard might get in. Got any gin?”
I checked over at DU to see what they had to say about it, and quite a few of them were saying that the quote was probably taken out of context and that we were only seeing part of what she said. Others supported her claim. It’s amazing that they call us the racists, yet they’re quick to justify their own racism.
I think she should stay exactly where she is as a constant visual (and a hideous one at that) reminder what a bias fraud the MSM is. The only thing she’s going to harm now is the left’s credibility.
Can you imagine the uproar if she had called for all illegal aliens to be returned to their home countries? All muslims in America to go home to their home countries?
What about the Jews who were driven out of muslim countries? Can they stay in Israel or should they go back to Iraq, Morocco, et al, and reclaim their land and property?
This is pure racism on her part towards an oppressed people, the Jews of Israel.
BTW, I saw the Left turn against Israel during the late 1970s even though many leftist leaders were Jews who opposedd this. IMHO, it was the fact that Israel stood with the USA against the USSR and their Arab allies. The communist parties and the Left in the West almost always end up serving Russian aims.
Heck, I don’t hate Jews, but what the heck are they voting for these anti-semites for? Are they really that stupid? I thought they were supposed be smart people.

The GOP needs to wise up and start attacking Liberals and Democrats on their Anti-Semitism and their Anti-Israel stand.
Too many times Libs and Dems refer to Conservatives and GOP as “Fascist” when in fact it is Liberals and Democrats that are such.

Beckel is absolutely right. The First Amendment doesn’t just protect speech we all like.
And we all have the right to say what we like about the speakers of things we don’t like, thanks to that same Amendment.
If we shut her up for saying something that we don't like or agree with (regardless how outrageous), we can't complain when they shut us up for saying things they don't like or agree with (regardless how accurate).
Besides, let them rant. It just exposes them for the angry radicals they really are. Let America see the real face of the White House Press Corps. The more the better.
Would Beckel be alright with a reporter from Fox News telling all homosexuals to move to San Francisco where they belong?
