MEXICO CITY – It's one of the safest parts of America, and it's getting safer.
It's the U.S.-Mexico border, and even as politicians say more federal troops are needed to fight rising violence, government data obtained by The Associated Press show it actually isn't so dangerous after all.
The top four big cities in America with the lowest rates of violent crime are all in border states: San Diego, Phoenix, El Paso and Austin, according to a new FBI report. And an in-house Customs and Border Protection report shows that Border Patrol agents face far less danger than street cops in most U.S. cities.
The Customs and Border Protection study, obtained with a Freedom of Information Act request, shows 3 percent of Border Patrol agents and officers were assaulted last year, mostly when assailants threw rocks at them. That compares with 11 percent of police officers and sheriff's deputies assaulted during the same period, usually with guns or knives.

Anyone with two functioning brain cells would realize that the violence and problems wouldn’t be “at the border”. It would be at areas and cities beyond the border that illegals have entered.
This is blatantly shameless and transparent agitprop from the MFM to minimize the horrific problem and give their WH love object cover on this issue.

Top four big cities with what criteria? What's "big"? Never mind that Austin is in a border state but isn't near the border, nor would it reasonably be a destination for large quantities of illegal aliens. If you cherry-pick and twist the statistics enough, you can prove most anything.
Last I heard, Phoenix was the kidnapping capital of the US; Mexico City was kidnapping capital of the world.

An Arizona man who has waged a 10-year campaign to stop a flood of illegal immigrants from crossing his property is being sued by 16 Mexican nationals who accuse him of conspiring to violate their civil rights when he stopped them at gunpoint on his ranch on the U.S.-Mexico border.
Roger Barnett, 64, began rounding up illegal immigrants in 1998 and turning them over to the U.S. Border Patrol, he said, after they destroyed his property, killed his calves and broke into his home.
Seeks $32 million in actual and punitive damages for civil rights violations, the infliction of emotional distress and other crimes.
The immigrants are represented at trial by the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), which also charged that Sheriff Dever did nothing to prevent Mr. Barnett from holding their clients at "gunpoint, yelling obscenities at them and kicking one of the women."
n March, U.S. District Judge John Roll rejected a motion by Mr. Barnett to have the charges dropped, ruling there was sufficient evidence to allow the matter to be presented to a jury. Mr. Barnett's attorney, David Hardy, had argued that illegal immigrants did not have the same rights as U.S. citizens.
Illegal Immigrant Suspected in Murder of Arizona Rancher
Theft, robbery, vandalism and drug smuggling have always been part of illegal immigration in Cochise County, but murder is not something the cattle ranchers along the Arizona-Mexico border expected to happen to Robert Krentz.
Police say Krentz, whose family has been ranching in southern Arizona since 1907, was gunned down early Saturday morning by an illegal immigrant while out on his ATV tending to fences and water lines on the family’s 34,000-acre cattle ranch.
Reached by phone early Tuesday at his family’s ranch, Andy Krentz, Krentz’s oldest son, said his father was a churchgoing man who routinely went out of his way to help those in need.
“My father was a very good family man,” Krentz told FoxNews.com. “He supported his kids, supported his family. He went out of his way to help anybody we could without regarding to who they were. It didn’t matter who they were.”

Illegal Immigrants Crime Spree in WA.
One woman is dead and two others were raped recently and police say each crime was committed by a different illegal immigrant. One of the sexual assaults happened just hours before the Seattle city council passed an ordinance boycotting Arizona over its new immigration law.
Gregorio Luna Luna had a history of beating up his live-in girlfriend Griselda Ocampo Meza. He was also in the U.S. illegally. On May 1, Luna Luna was deported to Mexico. Three weeks later Meza was murdered in her apartment in a violent knife attack.
Franklin County prosecutors say Luna Luna slipped past the border again and killed Meza in front of their five year old son. He’s in the county jail awaiting trial.
A suspected rapist in Edmonds, Washington has been deported at least 4 times according to Snohomish County prosecutors. Jose Lopez Madrigal has been charged with raping a woman next to a dumpster behind a Safeway store. A witness to the attack alerted police and Madrigal was taken into custody.
An illegal immigrant just convicted of his possible 3rd strike in Whatcom county- a rape of a homeless woman- has been deported to Mexico five times.
Washington State ranks 11th in the nation in the number of illegal immigrants with an estimated 150,000. They make up 2% of the state’s population, but account for 4.5% of those in Washington prisons. In Franklin county, 14% of the jail bookings are illegal immigrants.
Currently, over half of the individuals on the Washington State Patrol’s Most Wanted List are suspected illegal immigrants. 18 of the 26 on the list are Hispanic with no place of birth identified. Most are wanted for vehicular homicide and they have languished on the Most Wanted list for several years.
There are about 50,000 felony warrants currently issued in Washington State and according to a source in the U.S. Marshal’s office between 30-40 percent are believed to be illegal immigrants.

This is because a great deal of areas with high illegal populations have become third world “no-go” zones for the police. There is no way all the violent crime is being documented.

As noted in the last entry here, more insidious people are coming through our porous southern border than folks who just want to get jobs in the US and support their families.
Those who patrol the borders – and those who own adjoining property – find things left behind by the border-crossers, such as Moslem prayer rugs and copies of the Koran. Since there aren’t a whole lot of Mexicans who practice the Moslem faith, this leads people of logic to the conclusion that Islamic fanatics who have declared a fatwa against the United States are crossing into our country there. At least one left behind a patch celebrating “martyrdom” in Arabic. See LINK HERE . It doesn’t exactly take Sherlock Holmes or Dick Tracy to put it all together.
I’ve seen intelligence briefings that indicate Al Qaeda members are among those who have penetrated our border via this route, assisted in some cases by Mexican drug cartels. There is strong evidence to suggest that they’ve brought in hardware that includes crew-served weapons and explosive materials.
Picture Mumbai: a handful of commandoes roaming the streets, machine-gunning every innocent person in sight with AK47s, setting fire to heavily occupied buildings as they go. Now picture it in this country, combined with massive explosions at power plants and communications centers within the target communities, to kick off the attack. Then, picture it happening in multiple cities at once across the United States when Osama bin Laden “pulls the trigger” on the attack.
You have trouble picturing that? Some highly placed American intelligence people don’t.
During my recent visit with various elements of law enforcement along the Arizona border, I learned that the night before my arrival, three Sudanese had been caught in Tucson taking classes to become pilots, and were turned over to the FBI. Huachuca City Police told me that illegally-immigrating Jordanians had recently bought 500 cell phones in their city, and FBI was called in on that one too. Al Qaeda terrorists use cell phones to detonate IEDs. Devices that trigger Improvised Explosive Devices to maim and kill American troops in the streets of Iraq can, of course, perform the same function in American streets.
Our top intelligence people warned us long before 9/11/01 that terrorism was coming to America, and it was only a matter of time. The elements for another Mumbai, but in the USA and on a massive scale, are already here. And much of that seems to have seeped in through the southern border.[snip]
