Is Domenici, Sr., really cautious like his father was?
Clayton is the stopover between TX and CO. I kind of like it. Is it a liberal town?
You can call it cautious, I’d call it methodical. He was great on budgetary issues. He was a moderate but never a RINO. Pete Jr. is out of his league this time around. Both he and Turner may have a future, but the voters usually don’t like family connections/coattails [though it didn’t hurt Lujan in NM-3 who followed his father in politics.]

With 64.4% in, Mo Brooks has 49% to Parker Griffith’s 36.7%.
Parker Griffith switched from DEM to GOP because he knew he couldn’t win the election as a Democrat. He’s an opportunist like Specter was.
And just like Specter, Griffith is going down. The good people of Alabama are seeing through him.
The much touted Artur Davis (many articles today were speculating about Davis being the first black man to win the governorship of AL), is getting trounced by Sparks, 65% to 35%.
He’s a disgrace. I hope he’s defeated. I have no idea what the district is like.
NM-3 is Richardson’s district. He was the first to run there and started his political career there (hence the carpet bagger moniker). It includes San Francisco-liberal Santa Fe and Taos, the Navajo Reservation, numerous Indian Pueblos and old-time Hispanic northern New Mexico. It also includes the ABQ bedroom community of Rio Rancho and the oil-field community of Farmington but is still very, very strongly Democrat.
The district voted for McCain over Obama, 61% to 38%. Griffith, as a DEM, only won by 3 points in 2008 so he saw the handwriting on the wall.
The AL governor’s race on the GOP side is going to a run off (July 13). James, Byrne and Bentley all have around 25%. Seven Republicans in all are running. Judge Roy Moore (10 Commandments judge) is running 4th with 19%.

When Judge Moore again fails to win a Republican nomination, it shows that conservatism is pretty dead in AL. Are some Democrats voting in the
Republican primary to defeat Judge Moore? AL people are trying to “apologize” for Jefferson Davis being based first at Montgomery.
Clayton is a small town, I’ve been through it a few times, that’s a Republican area. Union County was the second most heavily GOP county in the state (went for McCain over Zero, 70-28%), with only Lea County in the SE corner more GOP (72-27%).
