Will a thunderstorm force the cancellation of Obama's Memorial Day speech at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois? C-SPAN just lost their signal as Obama took the stage amid thunderous lightning and pouring rain.
As Ogamugabe was arriving at Elwood, a military formation of helicopters flew over my house. One from each branch of service.
Luck would have it that my son-in-law, PV2 at Fort Knox was home for the holiday.
The flag was flying and 3 generations of Yokels were honored by the display!

It was a bad storm...our power was out for awhile. I heard a CBS reporter on the radio comment on the already “somber” occasion made more so by the weather, and he also commented on the presidential motorcade leaving, driving past the wreath which was blown over by the storm. Wonder if anyone got that pic....

Fantastic, Matchett. That surely does bring back a lot of memories. God bless those men and women who were the greatest generation.
Meanwhile, Arlington National Cemetary, and the tomb of the Unknown soldier were attended by the Vice-President Of the United States, which on retrospect, seems fitting that at least someone who is a US Citizen, spoke in rememberance of the Men and Women who serve and in some cases sacrificed all to uphold their oath and the constitution. THIS YEAR, Arlington, and the Tomb were not desecrated by Obama’s presence. HE, IMO, belonged with his “People” in Chicagoland surrounded by the Brotherhood of Islam...
