I heard today this is the first time an American President hasn't had an American flag present at a White House Press Conference. True?
Perhaps he sees the flag as a divisive symbol.
He's skipping Memorial Day at Arlington as well.
Maybe he counted the stars and decided the flag was defective since it had only 50 stars.
Arlington is hit and miss . Clinton made eight Memorial Day wreath layings while Bush 41 made none of his. I think W made /seven, while Ronald Reagan was present four of his eight.It’s never been as big a deal as now . W made every Memorial Day from the start of Iraqi Frerdom but he was not there in 02 after the troops had been deployed to Afghanistan.(He was on an official trip to France)I don’t like Obama’s not being there, but given the record of past Presidents I don’t think it has traction.

My son was there for that ceremony—his unit was chosen to participate in honoring the 60th anniversary of D DAY,and he was so humbled when he got to meet some of the Medal of Honor recipients. Was just so sad that President Reagan died the day before that ceremony. Now that man knew what hallowed ground was!

Was his subject Memorial Day? Not that it matters, just that it would add insult to injury, and wouldn’t surprise me.
Surely, someone would have informed them, if this is common enough knowledge to be reported on by the MSM - AND for them to even remark!
I make a note that he will be visiting a National Cemetery in Chicago - the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery - but it seems to me like an ‘afterthought’. Like, I’ll be in the area so I’ll stop by for a bit kind of an event... He should be at Arlington - although I understand some family members who are relieved he will not be there...
Oh, and I should add there is no way this is a simple ‘oversight’ if the staffers in protocol and press are competent. It’s not too hard to rush a flag to the room if they forgot (which I doubt...). I feel sorry for the person who may get thrown under the bus to save face for this, if they even attempt to.
I guess I didn't so thanks for the reminder. Some whites he even ushers out the back by the trash.
