I have been monitoring the live feed of the "Top Kill" apparatus from BP.com and after about three hours there is a definite change of events down there.
For the first couple of hours we could see several views of a very complex device rocking around in clear water.
Now there is gushing of what I presume is the "mud" plumeing.
We may get some incite as to progress soon.
my bieber is stuned.
Thanks anyway.
Im looking at what appears to mud or cement being injected above the blow out and being blown out of the way . If that is true ,this isn’t working. I hope I’m wrong.
Wow, looking at the new angle... it’s all clear again.
The vid definitely looks different from the previous pic which showed the Rube Goldberg looking contraption that is now back on the screen.
And it definitely doesn’t look like the oil plume that was coming out previous to the start of the top kill.
Hoping and praying it’s all still okay.
The plume on the left sure looks like oil/water mixed
under high pressure,,,
Looks sorta like milk...
Cross your fangers just in case it will help.
Thanks for the post - important stuff for those of us in Florida. Hurricanes could pick the oil up and deposit oil filled rain all over the state... It’s got to be capped so we can move on to the next stage...
It's not (true, that is). When they started the mud flow, it was being fed in at the BOTTOM of the blowout preventer (BP). They intend to feed the mud in so fast that the mud will flow both out of the top of the BP and down the well bore (i.e. the BP itself will act as a "flow restrictor"). This will force the oil (and gas) back down the well bore, they hope far enough that the high density of the column of mud in the well bore will counterbalance the upward pressure of the oil.
“Its got to be capped so we can move on to the next stage...”
From day one, Barry & Co. have been on top of this.
Move along....
I was attempting to be funny, not chiding. :D Spell checkers are of the Obama, or is that Devil? I get them mixed up. Now we can spell the wrong word correctly!
looks okay now.
The pipe had fallen to a horizontal position and broken and the plume was coming from the end where the break occurred.
BTW an expert professional in the industry explained to me, if I understood him correctly, the "Blow Out Preventer" is something called a "ram shear". As I understand it the way it works creates a "crimp" in the pipe, much as if you took your garden hose and crimped it.
It seems that this BOP did not activate properly and after the well lost circulation of oil and "mud" the pressure built up until it exploded.
“Fangers Crossed...
Don’t think I even want to know what that is... “
Yup! Southern accent. Kinda like “Oh now! Isn’t he spatial? Bless his lil’ heart!”
Keep the pictures coming.
I have a brand new Imac and when I try and see the pics on the BP site Safari tells me that I have to have a plug-in (?)
Good pic,,,
Some have thought that was heavy oil...
Looks to me like they have either move the camera or are using another camera. Just a shot of eq floating around now.
Thanks, Positive. That makes sense.
FYI - CNN has 6 live feeds up here if your interested:
http://edition.cnn.com/video/flashLive/live.html?stream=stream1
(P.S. You’ll be prompted to download the CNN plug in but you don’t need it to watch the feeds.)
I’m watching it on my iMac via Safari. Not sure what plug-in you need, likely Quicktime.
