A top Department of Homeland Security official reportedly said his agency will not necessarily process illegal immigrants referred to them by Arizona authorities.
John Morton, assistant secretary of homeland security for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, made the comment during a meeting on Wednesday with the editorial board of the Chicago Tribune, the newspaper reports. "I don't think the Arizona law, or laws like it, are the solution," Morton told the newspaper. The best way to reduce illegal immigration is through a comprehensive federal approach, he said, and not a patchwork of state laws. The law, which criminalizes being in the state illegally and requires authorities to check suspects for immigration status, is not "good government," Morton said.

are the other outlets reporting this and outraged or are they making excuses again and covering for their messiah
Taking money under false pretenses?
Aiding and abetting?
Accomplices after the fact?
That situation never has a good outcome.
CA....
And more treadmills. Maybe THAT would be ethically-acceptable power for California to use.
...and lots more pink underwear!! Where can we donate??
Did the Federal government just yield another responsiblity to the states? This is a happy day after all...
I don’t know if anyone else is reporting this. I just read an article about a DHS security alert for somalian terrorists coming into Texas by way of Mexico. I am shaking with anger and got to confess my thinking is a tad off right now.
Go Arizona!
HELL of a GOOD IDEA!
You and me both, FRiend.
Isn’t it the federal law too? I knew DHS was a huge mistake from day 1.
“a comprehensive Federal approach”
Another NObama oxymoron.
But I bet they try to register them to vote...
Then they’re gonna have to allocate some more money to prison agencies to do it.
” This is insanity. Our federal government is declaring war on the citizens.”
We have a President who has sided with a foreign government(Mexico) and AGAINST the United States.
And this during a time of war.
Now ICE refuses to enforce Federal law, and Arizona state law.
It looks like the first shot has been fired!
Arizona is protecting its citizens from rape and murder. John Morton is quite irresponsible and dangerous with his statements. We are talking about a short and clear law that is consistent with Federal laws that Mr. Morton has pledged to enforce. Selective enforcement will NOT make anyone comfortable, whether from Arizona or any other state of the union. What an absolute foolish thing to say!
Arizona should secede”
I would like to see the WESTERN UNITED STATES:
Arizona
New Mexico
Texas
Missouri
Oklahoma
Kansas
Nebraska
S Dakota
N Dakota
Utah
Colorado
Nevada
Montana
Wyoming
Idaho
These 15 states are contigous & have more in common with each other than the rest of the states we now have.
Drill for their own oil, gas etc
Mine coal, gold, silver, titanium, etc
Ranch & farm without the intrusion of the EPA
Use perfectly good water for irrigation instead of sending it to the cities for swimming pools that no one swims in.
Use their own power they can create without sending one kilowatt to the cities outside their boundaries
Protect their own borders in any way they see fit
Have a judicial system that does NOT just become a revolving door for criminals
I would support this in a heartbeat.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
