The origin of modern myths and legends is a side interest of mine, the birther myths among them.
Now I understand why Obama being born in Kenya made it into your belief system, despite it being physically impluasible (requiring around 5 days and five flights, most on propeller planes) and financially impossible (it would have cost about a year of her parents' combined salaries) for Stanley Ann & Obama Sr. to travel there for her to give birth. After all, Obama's Father was from Kenya, so if you are going to make up a myth about Obama being born abroad, what better place than Kenya?
Implausibilty, and even impossiblilty doesn't deter the making of myths if there is a strong emotional reason to believe them, as in this case.
What I don't understand is, of all possible places in Kenya, why make Mombassa the birthplace in your myth? If you look at the map of Kenya, it's on the other end of the country from Obama Sr.'s village, 762 miles away, which would make it a minimum 2 day train ride. Probably longer, since Kenyan trains were very fast in 1961.
I suppose you could argue that there were no hospitals in Obama's village, so they had to travel to a major city. But Nairobi was closer, and more modern.
So why Mombassa? Not only is it completely implausible; I don't see the emotional appeal. Why Mombasssa rather than his father's village? Or why Mombassa rather than Nairobi?
Help me out here, birthers. Why do you reserve this special place for Mombassa in your belief system?
On the other hand, when Obama Sr. was flying to Hawaii to study, he was being sponsored by a foundation and was not paying his own way.
Prove Obama was sponsored by the Foundation, that is a simple enough request isn't it?

in essence you are saying that no Hawaii birth certificates are proof of birth. They can just be created later. Correct? (and your key evidence for this is the fact that Sun Yat Sen obtained an official Hawaiian document fraudently more than 50 years before Hawaii even became a state)

And also, you realize that because of this, any long form BC Obama produces will automatically be suspect because of this. Because Hawaii will issue official documents to whoever wants them, (I wonder if an underwear label would be enough to cash a check there!) nothing Obama shows would be worth diddly squat, and no Hawaiian official can be trusted, because they are covering up for him. All of them.

No, the only "fact" is that a guy who declared the COLB a forgery within minutes of its publication in June 2008 and who was actively distributing Birther rumors by July 2008, and who has a history of making false claims about his personal interaction with historical figures, suddenly started claiming online in November 2009 that he had personally met teenage Barack Obama who had personally confessed to him that he was born in Mombasa.
Check the laws of the state of Hawaii for yourself before you condemn me.

That's swell. But Mombasa being accessible and a possible travel destination doesn't mean anything with respect to why Ann Dunham would want to travel there for childbirth. The world is filled with accessible travel destinations, and I don't see anyone insisting that Obama was born in Venice or Paris or Rio.
Why a city with no international flights where neither she nor her husband had any family, in a third world country halfway around the planet? Instead of, y'know, the hospital down the street in Honolulu?

Consequently, by allowing that focus to shift, you've allowed everyone to gloss over the original matter, which was that the Mombasa location was introduced into the eligibility narrative with absolutely no supporting evidence, and that it makes no logical sense whatsoever

Stanley's mom was a bank teller, and her dad a furniture salesman. Obama Sr.'s family lived in grass huts. It doesn't take much to deduce from that that they couldn't afford a journey that would cost around $10,000 in today's (inflation adjusted) dollars .
How do you know she flew there for childbirth?
Maybe she flew there for the creature comforts...
Or maybe you are right, she flew there because The British had a first class hospital there for their citizens.

BOAC and EAAC were both Government subsidized airlines that could afford to charge cheaper fares as were Air India, Alitalia, and South African Airways, so your argument doesn't wash.
Yep. There are several attorneys right here on FR who have pointed out Hawaii's lax laws repeatedly. This is the #1 reason IMO why Hawaii seems to be going to bat for Obama and doing some of the illegal stuff they have been doing lately. They are not covering up for Obama, they are covering up their own failures.
And it is this reason as well why some so-called conservative freepers simply refuse to understand the illegibility issue at its core, because they simply cannot grasp what Hawaii has done regarding its laws, so they refuse to believe it.
There was an attorney at one time who explained that Hawaii did this to get more taxpaying Hawaiians, more taxpayers = more social programs or something to that effect. Now they have to cover their tracks because they've screwed up the constitution and allowed illegals a way in through the back door into the Oval Office. Obama, being the consummate con-artist that he is, knew this and totally used the system to his advantage.
