The origin of modern myths and legends is a side interest of mine, the birther myths among them.
Now I understand why Obama being born in Kenya made it into your belief system, despite it being physically impluasible (requiring around 5 days and five flights, most on propeller planes) and financially impossible (it would have cost about a year of her parents' combined salaries) for Stanley Ann & Obama Sr. to travel there for her to give birth. After all, Obama's Father was from Kenya, so if you are going to make up a myth about Obama being born abroad, what better place than Kenya?
Implausibilty, and even impossiblilty doesn't deter the making of myths if there is a strong emotional reason to believe them, as in this case.
What I don't understand is, of all possible places in Kenya, why make Mombassa the birthplace in your myth? If you look at the map of Kenya, it's on the other end of the country from Obama Sr.'s village, 762 miles away, which would make it a minimum 2 day train ride. Probably longer, since Kenyan trains were very fast in 1961.
I suppose you could argue that there were no hospitals in Obama's village, so they had to travel to a major city. But Nairobi was closer, and more modern.
So why Mombassa? Not only is it completely implausible; I don't see the emotional appeal. Why Mombasssa rather than his father's village? Or why Mombassa rather than Nairobi?
Help me out here, birthers. Why do you reserve this special place for Mombassa in your belief system?
Only if they back up their statement with proof.
That’s RaceBannon(poster here on FR)
A real goofy story and he will be mad at me again for saying it.
I like his posts but some are just out there.
Pan AM also flew to Kenya
> Guess what? You dont have to read my dribble (sic) [the word I think > that you are looking for is drivel] right now! Only in the sick, twisted mind of an Obama-supporting After-Birther like yourself does your LIE after LIE somehow equivocate the misapplication of "dribble" for "drivel". Your LIES are what compels us to correct your disinformation for lurkers here who may not know better. But really, either word applies when talking about the Dribbler-in-Chief.

It was a House bill that never became law. The Senate wouldn't vote on it.
BS
Still doesn’t matter - this man is unconstitutional with divided allegiance which stems from his father. It’s even quite possible that he is not even a citizen of this country. What passport did he use to travel to Pakistan and Indonesia back in the 80’s?
jamese777 - no matter what you say, you are not convincing anyone with the bogus information put forth on the internet. I can send you to just as much bogus information to debunk what you claim. So, which information are you going to believe?
No internet copy that you put forth will be believed by any of us.
Yes, I remember that - thanks for posting that article.
It’s insane, isn’t it.
He was born? I thought he was a complete fabrication...still do.
He’s been given marching orders, obviously.
Look for other after-birthers to ramp up, too.
“Sure. If they could provide documentation, under oath, I would walk.”
What would fulfill your definition of “under oath”?
I’d just like to nail this down.
As a formal statement by the State of Hawaii on the matter is not adequate for you, I’d like to see some assurance that you won’t just move the goalposts if and when the next bit of verification comes out.
She dribbled drivel. ;-0
When this issue first appeared , the Hawaiian records dept. stated that it was a ‘legal’ doc BUT it did not certify place of birth.. The records dept. has released a number of press reports since with a different ‘version’ of the facts. Early this year Hawaii’s leg. quitely without any fanfare, voted to accept COLB’s as full legal doc’s. This is sorta like if you don’t like the answers, change the questions. Something smells in Hawaii!
That bit has to be one of the more amusing circus acts among birthers here at FR.
A COLB? - forged
An official statement by Hawaii? - a lie
Newspapers announcements form 1961? - fraudulent
A thirty year old recollection of a guy who says he met a black kid in Hawaii who must have been BHO and the kid told him exactly what he wants to be true today? - take it to the bank.
"A certified birth certificate has a registrar's raised, embossed, impressed or multicolored seal, registrar's signature, and the date the certificate was filed with the registrar's office, which must be within 1 year of your birth."
Obama's COLB fails the above requirements. It is not a birth certificate, though it appears to have a raised seal, the registrar's signature, and it was filed within 4 days if his birth.
When ordering, be aware that shortened (abstract) versions of birth certificates offered by some states may not be acceptable for US passport purposes. Be sure to order only the full, certified copy of the original birth certificate bearing the registrar's raised, embossed, impressed or multicolored seal, registrars signature, and the date the certificate was filed with the registrar's office.
Furthermore, the Hawaii DOH explicitly says their COLB is good enough to get a passport.
I am going to have give you a pass on this one, as I have not been able to prove it or disprove it. Others have stated the same but I can' t argue this point without facts. Do you have a link that supports your point?
Of course, instead of focusing on the above text, you focus on the following:
For some reason, you seem to have focused on the word "some." You see, some abstracts, not all, are not acceptable. Why? From the context, it's obvious that some abstracts don't have one of the following: a raised seal, registrar's signature, or dated filed. But Obama's does, so it's obvious that his abstract is fine.
Does it not make sense to you that Barry proferred a fraudulent document and he knows it,
No, since there's not a shred of evidence to suggest he did any such thing. Again, I give you a pass on this one as it is currently a matter of perspective and not proven(to my mind)
since he provided one for college,
I went to college and had to provide a copy of my birth certificate and school records. It may have been different in my case, as I left high school at 15.(I don't claim to be super smart but my teachers, counseler and Mom thought I was better off in college. Which was fine by me)
to obtain his original passport
He could very well have presented a COLB similar to the one he posted.
There was no such thing as a COLB in the 70's or 80's. So he could not have presented one.
and then found one among his mother's belongings upon her death. Why would he not just slap up one of those? Why?
Perhaps because he lost it, or he had it in a box somewhere in his garage and couldn't find it, or perhaps he had to submit it for some reason and never got it back.
People do lose birth certificates, you know. Why else would states issue new copies of them on demand?
Then why no explanation to clear things up? He lost the most recent copy? It seemed pretty important and not something that he would lose or misplace. I have things stored, that I haven't touched in over 20 years. But, I do know, about exactly, where they are. LOL
Official documents catch Barack Obama in another apparent misrepresentation of his life story, this time challenging a claim made during his campaign that his father was part of a JFK-era airlift to bring Kenyan students to the U.S. to study in American universities.
WND research indicates Barack Obama Sr. was not brought to Hawaii in 1959 by any airlift of Kenyan students organized by baseball great Jackie Robinson, John F. Kennedy or the African-American Students Foundation, the AASF.
Nor was Barack Obama Sr. on any of the three subsequently chartered airplanes in what became known as the “second airlift” organized by Kenyan Luo politician Tom Mboya in 1960 after the Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Foundation contributed $100,000 to AASF.
Moreover, after a thorough search of the Jackie Robinson papers at the Manuscript Division of the Library of Congress, WND can find no mention of Barack Obama Sr. in the files on deposit, either as an applicant or candidate for an airlift from Kenya to study in the U.S.
The manifest of the 81 students actually flown from Kenya Sept. 9, 1959, in a plane chartered by Jackie Robinson in conjunction with the AASF does not contain Barack Obama Sr.’s name. Robinson was assisted by singer Harry Belafonte and actor Sidney Poitier.

Star Traveler got zotted?
parsy, who has been busy
“LOL. So you’re saying a 6-7 month pregnant American college coed would take a voyage to Kenya by freighter? For what?
Do we even have any reason to believe that a freighter calling at Hawaii would ever have any reason to stop in Kenya? For what?”
It would serve you much better to stick to your bookkeeping job instead of sticking your little shallow “head” into issue that you have absolutely no clues about!
In the sixties I worked for a Swedish shipping company, the “Johnson Line” = Rederiaktiobolaget “Nordstjernen,” the vessel MS PERU. A cargo ship with 12 passangers accomodation. We would start out in Stockholm then CPH, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Antwerpern, Southampton, then over the Atlantic to many U.S. ports and down to the Panama Canal, up the West Coast on Central America to S.F. Or other trips down to South American ports, loading/unloading merchant cargo and passengers would embark/disembark in different ports!
Our shipping line had vessels going to the far east and all over the world. American, Danish, Norwegian, German, Dutch, Belgium, Italian, Greek and many other countries shipping lines were doing exactly the same, cargo/passenger ships crossing all the oceans, including Hawaii, before it became economical feasible to afford air travel as we know it today!!
I said, I would try to educate you, so before you put your foot in your mouth further, you better STFU before you make a larger clown out of yourself as you in the past has done here as a true FINO. Click on the link “Johnson Line” see below!!!
