Opportunity to excel more important than equality of outcome In the weeks before the fight over a new Supreme Court justice takes place, it is worthy to note that we are not remaining true to the purpose of our Constitution. In the years after the Revolutionary War, our Founders had specific goals when they wrote our Constitution. Chief among those was certainly "a more perfect union." It also was, however, to ensure that Americans would never again be ruled by their government.
When asked about the Revolutionary War, John Adams would say:
"But what do we mean by the American Revolution? Do we mean the American war? The Revolution was effected before the war commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments, of their duties and obligations. ... This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the people was the real American Revolution."
In that light, we can understand that that revolution of the mind meant that the war was not about the exchange of one set of rulers for another set of masters - it was about exchanging rulers for liberty. After all, Patrick Henry did not ask for a set of American rulers or his demise. His demand was, "Give me liberty or give me death!" On the battlefield, General Washington put Henry's demand into action when addressing the Continental Army by offering this stark choice: "The time is now near at hand which must probably determine whether Americans are to be freemen or slaves."

thank you ...great post...
John Adams was a great & godly statesman.
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness cannot be guaranteed nor provided by the government. They can best be enabled by the government getting out of the way of and out of the lives of American Citizens.
Jesus told us that the poor would always be among us and mere mortals are never going to completely change that.
Declaration of Independence: ". . . unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."
Yes!!
Thanks! I’m glad usflagwaver found it!
Yes, absolutely!
I totally agree. And it is not the intention of this government to get out of our way. Hold fast.
Still is.
OK whoever made that sign needs to make some bumber stickers...that is freakin awesome...Efficiency of the DMV, Compassion of the IRS!
Except if you work for Goldman Sachs.
The "Republican" party needs to explain in what way they are different from the American Bolshevik (Democrat) party - since basically they just pass out money for votes to a different demographic.
And when Del Beccarro can articulate something besides "we need to control the borders, but farmers gotta have Messikins to work for them" in California, then I'll listen to him and other trumpeting RINO's from LA.
This is the core of Americanism and what is truly unique and radical about the American Revolution.
Our laws exist to maintain or improve our liberty, nothing more or less.
Safety, health, happiness and personal security are our own responsibility.
The Constitution better guarantee me my Wheaties too or I’m outta here. LOL!
History is repeating itself, because we have failed to learn from it.

And if you betray Constitutional principles or suspend them for "benefits", you lose freedom because the govt. then rules the decision making process for that part of your life.
Because the govt. now controls the process, there will be no flexibility in the administration of benefits and denial of benefits.
And it can change the rules and increase fines for non-compliance.
The next clause:
“That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men.”
The purpose of government is to secure our natural, God given rights. That is all.
