Attack on Jindal Aide Dismissed As Medical Call (Where is Gov. Jindal?)
New Orleans Time-Picayune ^ | Saturday, April 17, 2010 | Laura Maggi

Posted on 04/17/2010 12:13:31 PM PDT by kristinn

When news of last weekend's assault of Republican campaign fundraiser Allee Bautsch and her boyfriend broke on Monday, police logs detailing crimes and complaints reported in the French Quarter that night did not list the attack on the pair.

That's because the April 9 incident was first labeled a medical call, which meant no police report needed to be written. Indeed, according to the initial report released Friday by New Orleans police, it wasn't until Monday that a detective was assigned to investigate the incident -- in which Bautsch broke her leg and her boyfriend, Joseph Brown, broke his jaw.

Monday was also the day news reports and blogs began chattering about the attack, sometimes laden with the juicy possibility the attackers were anti-Republican protesters.

The initial incident report does not resolve the question of whether Bautsch and Brown were attacked by protesters, who had picketed the restaurant they were in earlier that night.

But the sequence of the NOPD's response to an attack that left Bautsch with a broken leg and Brown with a fractured jaw and nose, raises questions about why the department didn't deal with the incident as an assault from the get-go. Subsequent police statements and reports about the incident note that officers did respond to the scene, calling an ambulance to take Bautsch and Brown to the hospital.

NOPD spokesman Bob Young said the explanation is simple: The responding officer didn't know the extent of the couple's injuries. That officer knew the couple needed help and was told that Brown had been in a fight, but concentrated on getting them medical assistance, he said.

If the officer had known how badly they were hurt, the case would have been reclassified immediately as some kind of battery, Young said.

Make sure to mention that we in Austin, San Antonio, Jackson and Biloxi are willing and happy to keep the crazies at bay for anyone who
might want to hold conventions in our fair cities.

Shame on Jindal for ignoring the symptoms, the roots, the cause of the problem after having that huge conservative cash injection into NOLA a day before.

The ONLY thing I want to hear out of him is ‘we have the perps in custody’.

And I used to be proud of the guy.

Additional information about the likely ‘politics’ of the assaults and intended assaults that night in NO:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2494882/posts

“I hardly think it’s necessary to spell this out, but a communist anarchist who makes disparaging remarks based on socioeconomic circumstances about someone he suspects to be a conservative Republican before descending upon said Republican and beating him or her savagely is doing so from a political motive. Economics + communism = politics. It’s not brain surgery. Particularly given that the anarchists’ propaganda both before and after the event was shot through with hateful references to Gov. Bobby Jindal’s “rich friends” and so on.”

Perhaps you’re all aware that it is no longer accepted fact that the pair assaulted were wearing Palin buttons:

Where was security that night? This just looks bad that you let anarchists, leftists and communists intimidate visitors and locals in your city.

Pathetic. Reminds me of the moronic handling of the WTO riots in Seattle in 1999.

This is soooooooo bogus. The extent of injuries has zero to do with whether or not an investigation is logged. If it was a mugging and all anyone had was a scrapped knee or black eye, it was still an assault.

Are we to believe the cops called an ambulance even though they thought no one was really hurt? They certainly knew an assault had taken place, and that the injuries were not minor, else an ambulance would not have been called.

Unbelievable what the press and apparently the authorities think people are stupid enough to believe.

It’s different in the FQ. Mugging tourists is a local pasttime. Too much press about muggings, tourists don’t come, dollars dryup, restaurant owners get upset, criminals start robbing locals, locals get upset .....

The NOPD apparently “downgrades” as many incidents as it can. Otherwise the crime stats would go into orbit and the tourists would never return.

Right, and read about the other close calls here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2494882/posts

I posted this in response to Michelle Malkin soft shoeing this story on that thread:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2494882/posts?page=126#126
““Malkin ran a story about how the victims were thought to have been wearing Palin pins was false.”

Fine and dandy Michelle - but having mob like activity just outside a Republican meeting means somebody (NOPD, the city leaders, etc.) dropped the ball. Not to mention, even if the pair were attacked simply because they were ‘rich’ and ‘white’ by ‘anarchist revolutionaries’ - the only party I know that welcomes such revolutionaries in its midst and seems to actively recruit them, is the party of maobama. And that would be the Democrats.

So forget about the Palin pins...address the real story here - political violence and the reticence for the national RAT press, and political leadership of any sort (including Jindal) to address it.”
++++++++++++++++

Seriously - where was security that night to prevent this? They MUST have known of the potential for this to happen.

I place pretty high blame on the NOPD and anyone else responsible for security.

Pathetic is right.

After spending billions of our tax dollars not only rebuilding Crescent City but absorbing her hurricane victims, enough’s enough.

No more charity for NOLA. Other cities need the money
just as badly, and we’ll take the business.

Isn’t he ineligible? I don’t think he meets natural born citizenship requirement.

He was born in Baton Rouge, LA, USA but I haven't seen his BC.

Sarah’s going to be here in Austin on the 29th, and I can guarantee you there is no more politically schismatic venue, but I can guarantee you nobody gets a beatdown.

Tourists, come here. Or anywhere 0 hasn’t tacitly or explicitly given approval for thug behavior.

"Here is the scene in a photo shot by a local photographer of the protestors outside Brennan’s as a fundraiser with Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry and others from the Southern Republican Leadership Conference took place inside. His comments are below from an email he sent to Jim Hoft at Gatewaypundit."

"I am the photographer for the LA GOP and I was at the Brennan fundraiser. When I left about one hour or so after all 3 of the governors left the crowd of protesters had grown. The were very nasty, signs were vulgar using the “F” word. As I left the restaurant I was yelled at – there was a family visiting the restaurant with a baby stroller – they had nothing to do with the fundraiser and they were being heckled using the “F” and “MF” words.. A couple of them made comments to me. Thanks, Eric"

FYI, the building in the background in that pic is the Louisiana State Supreme Court building.

“He was born in Baton Rouge, LA, USA but I haven’t seen his BC.”

That doesn’t mean he’s a NBC. Otherwise illegal’s children would also be NBCs right? Nope, the parents of an NBC, need to themselves be citizens - although the SCOTUS has not ruled definitively on every possibility - leaving open all kinds of mischief, like with Obama.

The picture was taken from the balcony at Brennan’s looking across the street toward the SC bldg. The victims proceeded out the door turned left, went 1/2 block, turned right on St. Louis St. where they were attacked. The SC bldg takes up all of that block.

Look here to see the balcony.

Look at the google map to see the layout. You may have to blow it up a bit.

You will see they were headed for the Royal Orleans Hotel parking garage on St. Louis which also faces the SC bldg. I find it very symbolic that a political assault took place on the sidewalk of the Louisiana State Supreme Court.

Do a google street view and you can see the fence surrounding the SC bldg.
