Polish president dies in air crash
A plane carrying Lech Kaczynski, the Polish president, has crashed near Smolensk airport in western Russia, killing all on board, Russian officials have reported.
Polish officials confirmed on Saturday that Kaczynski was on board the flight with his wife, as well as Slawomir Skrzypek, the president of Poland's central bank, Andrzej Kremer, the deputy foreign minister and the army chief of staff.
The crash occurred about 1.5km from Smolensk airport in foggy conditions.
Actually, my first comment wasn’t meant to sound snide at all! I had truly appreciated it and thought I had understood — so I guess I owe you an apology for not being clearer in my reply to you initially...
You have given me a lot to chew on, so to speak. Fascinating information, really. I am fully aware of the threat of Marxism, I just think Obama while he may be one, also has another alliance to a more fascist viewpoint. I believe he thinks he can waltz in and keep power and he is so “green” the others are laughing at him...
Regardless, I will ponder your posts a bit more, and maybe get back to you for a question or two when I’ve thought about it all a bit more...
Also, thanks much for volunteering to serve our Country via elected office. As someone who has worked on campaigns at several levels I know the sacrifice of even just running for office well...
We’re posting over each other now! Glad it seems all is OK...
That’s correct about Putin...He is former KGB and such but the man can be respected if for no other reason than he will do what ever he thinks best no matter what others might think.
I think Putin sees Bo as a weakling in every respect....but he doesn’t underestimate the american will and people. It has to be difficult for national leaders to determine where this nation stands now since they know the people here are not supportive of Bo’s agenda, and the unrest nationally he is causing.
Likely Putin will continue his moves on the international scene and quickly so before our elections. Evil moves fast when it has an opening and BO has left our country wide open and weak.
We’re okay. God Bless you and America. Emotions run a bit hot now due to all the years of The Brothers Minions telling us how tolerant and diversity oriented we all need to be; and with them coming into power and all...
Nice to meet You!
Thoughts and prayers for all.
I was shocked also to hear that. Most likely it did not have new avionics and might have been incapable of CAT 3 landings.
After the 2nd landing attempt they should have diverted to another air filed.
WHY were SO many important people on that plane? Why??
Just about any time a head of state travels, he has a number of VIP government people with him. At times those people go along because there are certain exchanges that take place between lateral (two or more) nation’s officials. Other times there may be a symbolic need for it. Still other times, officials may want to go and be part of an event for personal or political reasons.
In this instance the President went for obvious reasons. Top level military officials went to recognize the loss from the armed services. Addition politicians went to add credence to the level of loss that it was, and to add an additional level of respect.
It’s painful to see this, but I don’t see it as something all that out of the norm.
reports I read was the when O found out 43 was at Ft. Hood he gave instructions that he was to leave! I recall that on the threads a few days after the events.
Hindsight is 20/20, but you can bet they will never allow so many on one plane like that again.
Obama expressed his regrets and sent a set of DVD’s to the family.

Such a tragedy and national loss for Poland. It is so sad to see those photos.
I could be wrong, but I don’t see Poland sending over three planes to attend an event like this. And if you were to see the full list of Poland’s political officials, it would certainly dwarf the list of those who died yesterday.
This is a tragic event, no doubt about it. I still think folks are acting somewhat irrationally about this.
Poland will go on. They still have plenty of good people.
There are no words, just tears and prayer.
how much fuel did they have left?
Y’know, Chechen & Kumyk suicide bombers just blew themselves up in Moscow...and Russia’s busy harassing Kyrgyzstan and (possibly) killing the president of Poland? Go harass the Chechen Wahhabists for crying out loud! But I guess Russia’s stranglehold on European gas and control over ex-Soviet republics is a more immediate need to Vlad...
And I didn't know that was possible.....
What a horrible loss. God Bless Poland and keep her people safe.
