Fiery populist Rep. Alan Grayson of Florida is in the news for reporting death threats and comparing the rightwing to Nazis who burned the Reichstag. But another comparison from the 1930s may be more apt, at least visually. Grayson has taken to wearing orchid-colored shirts like the "Kingfish" Huey P. Long, the legendary Louisiana populist assassinated in 1935.

I think the man is insane...seriously...look at those eyes...a total whack job.
Here. This is more like it.
;-)
Why is he a “populist”? He seems pretty un-populist to me. He’s just a jerk.
Populism = Socialism for the rubes.
Grayson’s on the list of DEMS who definitely need to go.
Ideas on the best Republican to face off against him?

Be glad that most of our trolling lefty-blogger types are too young and/or poorly educated to get that reference.
They should all take an oath to support whoever Grayson’s opponent turns out to be.
Grayson wears a tie made out of monopoly money. That shows what he thinks of spending the taxpayers hard earned dollars. He should remember what happened to Huey. Go to the Louisiana State Capitol and stick you fingers in the bullet holes in the marble if you aren’t sure.
I think Alter has been drinking the special kool-aid again. It’s gonna take more than kooky speeches and orchid shirts for Grayson to be in the same league as Huey Long was.
Long had dictatorial tendencies and was corrupt to the core, but he was also as wily a politician as this country’s ever seen. He knew how to get votes and to get power. Grayson will be lucky if he’s re-elected in November and will be at best an historical blip on the political radar.
