It's been said that the military is always preparing for war. That is true. We prepare for combat every day. We ran 5 miles today to the rifle range and shot nearly 200 rounds a piece at targets and then ran back. However, we also pray for peace. I would love one day to be completely unnecessary. But alas, I am a realist, and I know that day will never come.
The headlines of the last week have reminded me more of glimpsing at the S2 Daily Briefing Sheets while in theater or the Al-Jazeera than the NY Times or the Washington Post. Think about that for a moment, let it sink in.
Before I get into the main premise of this article - I need to make two statements here.
First and foremost , when it comes to the back and forth of who did what to whom and why - I don't give a @!$%#. It doesn't change the action. In life we're judged by our actions, nothing more, nothing less. One of the greatest things of the military is when it comes to an enemy, the politics behind the situation - don't matter in accomplishing that mission. For the military , life is simple in that regard.
Secondly, Regardless of your political ideology, you've earned the right as US Citizens to say your piece - no matter how wrong it may be. That is your right, and I will give my life to protect it.

Too late. He already used ‘frag’ and ‘Texas’ in the same sentence.
He certainly knows how to get his ass kicked on the internet doesn’t he? ROTFLOL
This one?
Yes, that’s true, and a long blood bath goes into making those new lines. Bosnia being example one.
You know, you and I could kill a quart of Rebel Yell while discussing this issue in front of a pot belly stove in a hunting cabin in SW VA.
And I hope and pray it never gets past a discussion. A real CW2 would be a horror show.
Only losing our freedom would be worse, and there’s the rub.
He’s got a better fancy prancy step than a Tennessee Walker.
Two choices ... ‘really, really, really bad’ and ‘unspeakably ghastly’.
Kind of like the ‘08 presidential election.
PS, I wonder if he is in line for one of those special “single rooms” the USMC might have to build?
There was no mistaking the intent of his original thread. He was fantasizing about killing him some "teabaggers" and other assorted conservatives. The Daily Kos and other liberal butt-wipe blogs jumped on his bandwagon and started hooting their approval like a pack of frenzied chimps. Then he got blowback he wasn't expecting.
It's a shame that anyone threatened him or his family (assuming that happened--it's always questionable when liberals raise the cry). That shouldn't have happened.
But, by God, maybe now he knows that there are damned many Americans who won't go quietly into that dark night.
That was just a foreshadowing. A CW2 would be a horror show, Bosnia X 100.
All registered Republicans would face severe challenges in a state like MA. They would be assumed to be copperheads, possible incarcerated. They would probably have to swear allegiance or some such BS.
This is a republic and the states can do just fine without the feds..
I hope he and his buddies are up to a good hike across the Jornada del Muerte to come and see me.
Somebody threatened his family? That’s wrong. But it does show a big difference between traveling 7,000 miles to fight with just your battalion, compared to trying to subdue America by force, when you live here with your family.
Look how fast he discovered that painful fact.
Hey, you Nuevo Mexicanos don’t need any outsiders coming in to throw a good CW. You got it all right there, from the burning sands to the Sangre de Christo.
You get no argument from me on that one.
Nobody will be drafted for CW2, IMO.
Hey, where’s that bottle of Rebel Yell?
I gotta call it a night brother.
That one set my gaydar off, too, and got me wondering about his ‘wife’.
I don't think anyone threatened him or his family; more likely, he got his bluff called on his BS.
See Post 387, this thread.
I think this officer speaks for many. Events to date have not, and do not threaten, to disrupt the chain of command. If the Congress and the Supreme Court recognize the legitimacy of the Commander-in-Chief, and if he does not issue illegal orders to violate Constitutional processes, the officer corps will remain undivided.
And, if that is so, gestures of armed rebellion will end in bloody failure, and will have the paradoxical effect of increasing the central power.
Lines of attack remain open: First, of course, the elections in November. Second, because Obama AND his minions CLEARLY intend subversion, state nullification efforts and state lawsuits with the Supreme Court exercising original jurisdiction are very important.
It should be possible to maneuver Obama into a constitutional box, or to provoke an overt act which would split the officer corps and bring him down.
But changing the Tea Party to Quantrill's Raiders will not, in my humble opinion, move the ball down the field.
