This part got me:
MATTHEWS: Well, I have to tell you, I don`t know how you fan the flames when you — when you say you don`t like something. And by the way, Congressman Stupak, I`ve got to ask you a question. I know this is rhetorical. But you know, when Bush got his way on a number of issues — forget the war. The parties agreed on that for a while there. He got a huge tax cut for the wealthy. I didn`t see the Democrats burning down the barns and sending hate mail, and you know, throwing rocks through windows. They lost a big fight on fiscal issues. They got the wrong end of the stick, you might argue. They still get it in the sense of tax policy. But they didn`t go doing this stuff. They took it on the chin.
clip
MATTHEWS: Yes, maybe — maybe the right wing should take this one on the chin, the way the liberals did when Bush did his tax cut back in the early part of this century. They just took it on the chin, no rallies, no violence, no stone-throwing, no bullets, no nothing.
You Dems are MANDATING we buy a service on a partision vote. That is different than tax cuts. Notice he says Dems protesting against Bush on the war doesnt count as dems protesting Bush. What a phony!
This is why I still watch this nonsense, for gems like this.
Matthews - no brains
Our chins will be permanently disfigured because this health care plan will be too bankrupt to fix it.
Libs take it on the chin?
Let’s review the liberal reaction to the passage of the California amendment to not recognize gay marriage.
We’ve stepped back, time and again
as the left aggressively
stepped over line after line after line.
We’ve done so in order to be “civil and restrained”.
Folks there is nowhere to step back to.
We’re on the edge of a cliff.
Chris Matthews has a little Obama DNA on his chin, he needs to suck it up.
My chin is all tingly.
Sorry Chris, we have this little thing called THE CONSTITUTION which says we don’t have to shut up—unless you’d like to try to make us b-tch. I guess you needed to take the Bush tax cuts and Iraq War on the chin and just shut up, right? You’re not telling Republicans to shut up Chris-—you’re telling the majority of the voters who oppose this atrocity to shut up. Is that going to be the Democratic message for the fall campaign? Let’s see how that works out for you all-—friggin’ mental patient.
Democrat insanity ping.
MSNBC has been on this “Republicans shut up” theme all week.
Matthews is a Fascist Pig.
Don’t sweat it too much. Six months from now we’ll be telling the leg-wetter to take the GOP landslide on the chin and shut up. And after that to take the voter ID election reform on the chin and shut up. And the redistricting, and the Obamacare defunding, and the repeal.
Matthews is an old Democratic hack. He should be expected to say this kind of junk. It’s what passes for tough in dissembling Democratic circles.
Clinton took every opportunity to talk about the large tax cut he got anytime a mic was shoved in his face.
(Every tyrant on earth) to (every freedom fighter on earth):"Take (slavery) on the chin and shut up"
I can’t wait for the first time the Repubicans use reconciliation to thwart Democrat opposition. That girlyman Matthews will be screaming like a stuck pig.
Chris, you know, you can always give a tax cut you receive, back. Assuage that metrosexual male white guilt of yours.
