Dissing perhaps our most valuable ally and friend

Number of Israeli troops in Iraq = zero.

Number of Israeli troops in Afghanistan = zero.

Most valuable how, exactly?

I would think Israel is plenty surrounded by enemies of their own right at their border.

Name another Middle East country that has fervently supported the U.S. over the last 60 years or so... then name another Middle East democracy.

I would imagine, due to the sensitivity in that region, official calculation of Israeli troops is zero.

Israel is our greatest ally in that region.

Too hard to explain to ardent anti-Semites.

Yeah, even Bush knew that having israli troops in Iraq and Iran would be Political and National Security Policy Suicide. It is bad enough the Saudi’s spend tons of money making Israel look like the cretin of the middle east. That would have given the islamofacists even more of an excuse and a definiate rallying point.

That would be because we thought their presence was too divisive and refused their offer. Just sayin’.

You gotta be kidding... Israeli troops alongside us in Afghanistan or Iraq would not have been exactly helpful.

This article makes a good argument on Israel being our most valuable ally (at least in the Middle East).

You really think that the muslims would’t go crazy with IDF troops on their land ?
Some things are more valuable than what can be seen by the eye like intelligence and yes they share much of that with us. Quit playing the blame the Jew game .

The fact of the matter is that you are likely wrong. You don’t know about Israelis in Iraq or Iran or Afghanistan because they are secret, undercover, part of the background. You don’t know what they lean or what they share.

Clandestine operations are secret to protect the operators.

How many American weapons systems have essential Israeli input? Which intelligence service does the CIA and NSA consider most important?

If we had asked them to help, they would have. For obvious reasons we did not ask Israel to send troops to Iraq or Afghanistan. That doesn't mean they didn't help us in the war effort. I suspect that while Bush was president a lot of middle east intelligence was being secretly provided by Israel.

Tell me again how many times America asked Israel to join it’s coalition to liberate Iraq?

Tell me again how many times America asked Israel for help in Afghanistan?

That's like asking how many Australians or New Zealanders landed with us at Omaha Beach. They fought with us, but in another theater.

There is a war, a Grand War, A World War going on with the so-called Religion of Peace. Israel is killing Jihadis and Muslim terrorists, and currently so, just as we are.

The Palestinian terrorists of Fatah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad are joined at the hip to Al Qeada and the Taliban.

Israel is our ally in defeating them.

Unless we go wobbly due to a “My Middle Name is Hussein” in the White House. I don't expect our ally Israel to, but Hussein is really pushing them.

That is by our request. It would be percieved as a religious war and we would lose all Arab cooperation if Israeli troops were present in those countries. However, Israel gives us lots of intelligence which saves American lives.

As I recall - and I could be misremembering (sic) - Israel offered and we asked them to stand off in order to reduce the political ramifications.
