Up to a third of breast cancer cases in Western countries could be avoided if women ate less and exercised more, researchers at a breast cancer conference said Thursday.

While better treatments, early diagnosis and mammogram screenings have dramatically slowed the disease, experts said the focus should now shift to changing behaviors like diet and physical activity.

So 33% of breast cancer is caused by you girls not taking care of yourself or they want to start suing McDonalds.

Actually, they will now be able to blame women for their cancer and not cover it.

Funny how they don’t mention the links between the Pill and breast cancer or Abortion and breast cancer.

Horse hockey. This malarkey has been with us since the first clown put on pants and was interviewed by a reporter.
People have been tortured by Doctors, bled - poisoned - put on horrible diets.
There is no shred of evidence that diet or exercise affects the cancer rate - none.

Agreed...my wife of ten years just passed away last month from Breast Cancer. She was diagnosed at age 29 and was in excellent physical condition. She was put on the Pill when she was 16 yrs old to help control her periods. She was convinced that there was a link between the Pill and her cancer...

I am sorry for your loss. My wife has battled breast cancer since 1996. In her case, we think it was hormone replacement therapy. It's the excess estrogen in the HRT and the Pill that is the problem. It may not cause cancer, but if there are any cancer cells lurking, estrogen is like pouring gasoline on a fire.

There are plenty of doctors who extol the virtues of the Pill and HRT, but you won't find an oncologist who does.

My Mom is a breast cancer survivor. Never smoked, rarely drank, excellent physical health. However, cancer is heavy in our family and after the loss of my stepdad and my (younger) sister then getting cancer, we really attributed it to stress. I don’t know if it’s a factor, but if it is, Mom was a 100% candidate.

Fortunately, she went through treatment and has now had a clean bill of health for over a year.

I believe that's a dirty little secret that liebrals don't want to address. They'd rather walk with pink ribbons.

For those who have had to deal with breast cancer or who have lost loved ones, my deepest sympathies.

The latest breast cancer “news” is very convenient... now that government control of healthcare is imminent.

For years, women were pushed to have more mammograms. All of a sudden, this year, a study says we can wait until we’re older and don’t need them so often.

For years, they told us breast cancer was random and genetic. Now this story is saying a third of breast cancer is a result of diet and exercise.

It almost sounds as if they’re looking for ways to cut the gov’t healthcare budget before it even gets started.

Yes, and they never will. Their idea of preventing deseases and reducing health care cost are by 'preventing' people from falling outside of some statistical or special interest generated profile. You don't meet the profile you must either get with the program or it will cost you dearly. Fail to comply and they will 'prevent' you from getting treatment. Tah-duh! Health Care has now been fundamentally transformed!

You know what my reaction is to this? Women would have time to exercise more if the damn gummint hadnt raised taxes so high that most families need two incomes.

There is no shred of evidence that diet or exercise affects the cancer rate - none.

As the husband of a very brave, 2 time breast cancer survivor, there is indeed clinical evidence that exercise does provide protection against a recurrence or new diagnosis.

However, that's for people who are survivors. Not sure if that's applicable to people who've never had it.

I wish I never knew so much about this killer.
