And Judas Said Unto Them, “What Will You Give Me If I Betray…?”
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | Jeanette Pryor

Posted on 03/22/2010 12:26:22 PM PDT by Michael van der Galien

Somewhere in Washington D.C., probably at about one in the morning, a man closed a door against the noise and sat down on his bed. From the haggard, miserable look he had worn the entire evening, I doubt that he was smiling at the darkness. In fact, as the silence closed around, the heavy and unfamiliar sense of being alone, perhaps he got his first suspicion of what the rest of his life is going to be.

Only hours ago, the man was considered a veritable American hero. He was considered an honest representative of his people and a Defender of Life, rarities for his political party. He is now neither. Instead of being a true “Champion of the Unborn,” Bart Stupak traded his vote and those of the other “Pro-Life Democrats” he led, for a promise from a known liar. He will forever enjoy the dubious distinction of being the man who, in Congressman Mike Pence’s immortal words:

“You traded thirty years of law for a piece of paper from the most pro-Abortion President in History.”

I have a reputation for being a melodramatic writer. I am often unable to escape the double handicap of Irish hyperbole and over-exposure to the verbosity of “la Belle Langue.” But who will accuse me of exaggeration for saying that the man who fooled us all for months in his role as the hounded protector of the Innocent Unborn has accomplished more by his indefensible farce and groundless acceptance of “Presidential Assurances,” the acceptance of which was a criminal dereliction of logic, than all of NARAL and Planned Barrenhood put together? Who else has been able to obtain funding for abortion with taxpayer money?

The problem with the comparison to Judas is that Stupak did not betray anyone. He voted for the first bill, and it should be no shocker that he'd vote for this one.

Another post stated that a more valid comparison would be between Stupak and Esau.

Stupak definitely did betray ‘someone’. All the unborn children AND all the prolife voters who he promised that he would never vote for a bill allowing abortion.

Fact is that as soon as I heard that Stupak caved my first thought was “How does it feel to sell your soul?”. This man is a Judas and so are the weak knee lilly livered slime that voted with him

I would like to see how the voters in his district are reacting. It seems like Stoogepak’s days are numbered.....

The house bill had the abortion funding restrictions, the senate bill he voted for yesterday did not, so yes he betrayed his supporters when he voted for the senate bill in exchange for the ridiculous EO and apparently money for a local airport.

Yeah, I think we forgot for a second that he was democrat after all. Actually I was surprised when I first heard there was a pro-life democrat holding things up because I didn’t think there was such a thing. Turns out, I was right, there isn’t. Maybe the analogy to Judas does break down because Stupak didn’t kiss anybody. Although the weaner Weiner did kiss him. Glad lunch is over.

I was talking about betrayal in the sense that Stupak never betrayed his desires to impose socialist health care upon the USA. To me, his views on abortion are (clearly) more of a tool for wheeling and dealing instead of anything being ground in some sort of moral backbone.

Perhaps we are arguing symantics but here is the definition

Betrayal is the breaking or violation of a presumptive social contract, trust, or confidence that produces moral and psychological conflict within a relationship amongst individuals, between organizations or between individuals and organizations.

Stupak betrayed voters and the unborn. He betrayed the very church he saysis so important to him. He sold his soul ANY way you slice it

May the cries of millions of unborn souls ring in Bart Stupak’s ears every night barring him from rest or sleep, and then haunt his soul every single day.

May their moans and the sobs of those women who have been duped under the lie of “choice” disrupt his life to the extent he no longer desires to live it.

The fallout should be that no Democrat should be allowed to be called “blue dog” or “moderate” or “pro-life”.

They are all pro-abortion socialists.

And when he stands before the judgement seat of Christ ... and offers explanation of this life ... may the Lord summon all the innocent babies who will die ... and present them before him as a testimony against him.

He was out drinking and celebrating with the rest of the “yes” democrats after the vote. A vile bunch of people.
