I’m pretty much in agreement on these petitions....they accomplish little....how be it little might be best if there is no other outcry. However, the states have stepped up and I am soooo proud...It’s the proper order according to our constitution and the states wasted no time to do get things started. Good for them!!!!! Governors matter now!!!

Do these really do much in your opinion? Where do they go once they are signed?

I got a D in slow reading. ;-)

I was always a good reader, but there were times when I didn’t pay attention enough.

Don’t sweat it. Been there often enough...

Take care bud.

Anything that makes it look like there are more voices out here disagreeing with this, seems like to good idea to me.

Do internet polls make any difference? IMO, if they were all going against Conservatives, not matter how unscientific it was, it would send a certain message. That mess might not be anything more than that Conservatives just don’t participate in online polls. It might also say, hey conservatives don’t really care to mix it up on the internet, and don’t really want to expend much energy on these matters.

I participate in everything I am notified of. Let others sort it out. Participation is better than absolutely no participation by Conservatives, scientific or not.

And that’s how I see these online petitions. What if there were no online petitions from the right, and the left were participating all the time. That alone would send a pretty clear message.

“There’s so many petitions out there now for this and that that no one pays any attention to them anymore.”

Online activities like this give people the illusion they are doing something.

A call or email to a congressperson is a step up from this.
Actually going to the congresspersons office would be better.

Contributing time and money to one would be even better.

Being involved locally with your party better yet.

Running for office yourself another step up.

Signing online petitions is a waste of electrons in my opinion.

Heh, yea it's that paying attention stuff back in school days that is difficult

I had important things to do, play pinball machines, catch rattlesnakes and go swimming/fishing at the dam lol

It’a all good, as the kids say!

I hope that is the list of things you are doing, and not just typing typing typing.

Many of the tea party people people that sign petitions are doing some of those things you list and more also

This petititon asks you for email addy and password

I think a phony one will work if you don't want to give your real one

Which is precisely why these online petitions are ignored. Pull a random sample of 1000 names from the petition. Does that represent one thousand differnt people, or one guy with a Perl script and a database of first & last names?

By all means, sign the petition if it makes you feel good.

Please don't do so with the expectation that you're changing anything.

It’s only an indicator, don’t read into it more than it is

By all means, condescend if that’s what blows your skirt up (you know, makes you feel good)

What are you doing?

None of the complainers have answered that question yet

Keep complaining, but "Please don't do so with the expectation that you're changing anything helping the cause."

I went away to boarding school when I was 14. That year and the next I was one of the biggest screw-ups known to man.

I would attend classes half the day, and go for long walks in the Arkansas and Texas countryside.

There’s something magical about those streams, ponds, lakes and the countryside back there.

I guess that’s why I have very little patience with guys like Obama or MeCain. When they do their leftist/socialist voodoo, it endangers the land that I love.

I’m with you. What good is a petition. The only thing that cheered my up a bit today was reading the following:
Link:http://nicedoggie.net/
One cannot help but admire Nancy Pelosi’s skill as a legislator. But it’s also pretty worrying. Are we now in a world where there is absolutely no recourse to the tyranny of the majority? Republicans and other opponents of the bill did their job on this; they persuaded the country that they didn’t want this bill. And that mattered basically not at all. If you don’t find that terrifying, let me suggest that you are a Democrat who has not yet contemplated what Republicans might do under similar circumstances. Farewell, Social Security! Au revoir, Medicare! The reason entitlements are hard to repeal is that the Republicans care about getting re-elected. If they didn’t–if they were willing to undertake this sort of suicide mission–then the legislative lock-in you’re counting on wouldn’t exist.

Oh, wait–suddenly it doesn’t seem quite fair that Republicans could just ignore the will of their constituents that way, does it? Yet I guarantee you that there are a lot of GOP members out there tonight who think that they should get at least one free “Screw You” vote to balance out what the Democrats just did.

If the GOP takes the legislative innovations of the Democrats and decides to use them, please don’t complain that it’s not fair. Someone could get seriously hurt, laughing that hard.

I see your point, I suspecct your are also correct, but I would still want to know how they are used...where do they go once the signitures are acquired? or do they just get filed away....?

What are you doing?

None of the complainers have answered that question yet

-------

The same thing I do every election cycle. Volunteering with the local RNC. That means walking door to door and passing out literature, usually. Talking to the people I meet and greeting them with a smile even when they don't have a kind word for me. In other words, spreading the word face to face.

It gets me away from the keyboard during a stressful time of the year ('08 was particularly bad) and the walking gives me some exercise.

Do I make a difference? Darned if I know.

Man, that is fantastic!

And one of the best ways to reach people, one at a time face to face.

IMO you do make a difference

And there are thousands doing the same thing.

Thank you for putting out the effort to help keep our Constitutional Republic!
