One Thing That's 100% Guaranteed: The Healthcare Bill Will NEVER Be Repealed
Joe Weisenthal
Mar. 22, 2010, 9:36 AM
Already Republicans plan on introducing a bill this week to repeal last night's historic healthcare vote.
Obviously that's going nowhere.
But looking out, Republicans will probably try to run on repeal in the runup until November. It's possible that will play okay at the ballot (we don't know) but anyone who thinks this is a realistic prospect is smoking something illegal.
First of all, to repeal the vote would be just as difficult legislatively as passing healthcare was, so just think of how hard that was. Republicans would need 60 pro-repeal votes in the Senate to defeat a Democratic filibuster. And remember, they'd need a President who wouldn't veto the bill (i.e. not Obama or any Democrat).
But even that's putting too fine a point on it. Here's the real story, and it gets down to the fact that this new bureaucratic superstructure is now permanently ossified into our federal government.

Im certain Joe Weisenthal is defeated. The rest of us will fight to the end.

Amen, brother.
One good thing about the bill is the taxes and penalties start right away but the benefits don’t start until 2114.
It could be repealed in 2112 if Chairman O is defeated.
I don’t believe that. This bill can be repealed. The majority of the American public didn’t want it, and got it rammed down their throat by arrogant Democratic politicians. Allow me to borrow a remark from the Marxist Joe Hill: “Don’t mourn, organize”.
snip snip then, let’s get this hound dog neutered
Joe Weisenthal is just one more enemy that needs to be overcome.
It was voted in on a partyline vote, a HUGE BILL that impacts this entire nation....NO VOTE of such immense importance and impact SHOULD EVER be at the mercy of one tyrannical majority. There should have been a SEVENTY FIVE percent vote needed...just basically.
Maybe we can get Texas to secede and move down there.
I don’t even recognize this country anymore.
DO the Republicans ever even try to repeal any government programs?

Time for the conservatives to work and not stop working until we win.
WHY ELECT SEMI-REPUBLICANS...? Can someone answer me that? What price, "Compassionate Conservativism"..?
Use “Cloward-Piven” strategies on the Kenyan’s programs and tank them..
A single no vote is not enough. Any republican who does not actively work to repeal must be counted in the enemy camp and not supported in any way.
Rostenkoski was chased by seniors, thrown out of office and his bill was repealed. Stop whining and start fighting. DO not post negative crap stories.
Indeed. There seems to be a growing chorus of people who want us to just put our hands in the air and surrender, without so much as a parting retort. Some claim to be conservatives, some are quite obviously not. I’m not sure giving up is the way to go. If the leaders give up, then look out for people taking to the streets. See my tagline. Hard to believe JFK said that.
Revolution 2 has begun.
They will too. This CANNOT be repealed stuff is BS.
We can see now that anything is possible, even the most repugnant things.
I’m not so sure about that.
We must offer sensible alternatives to the real health care problems while we are taking back congress, and the WH.
We must start telling the Med Mal (tort reform) nightmare stories. The Dems tell them, so can we. I’ve got a boatload of them (I do med mal insurance). Docs who have been forced out because a patient suffered a known risk, was advised of the risk, doc did nothing wrong.
We must propose risk pools to cover the high-risk Americans. There must be a way to do that without pushing our deficit beyond the breaking point.
Offer tax breaks for companies who offer employees insurance.
We must boast that our common sense comprehensive plan won’t cost our children... and have that be true.
We can’t afford the all-encompassing plan the Dems cooked. Fiscal responsibility will resonate in the upcoming elections.
Ah, and with folks like you, the white flag manufacturers will have a booming business.
There is NO law that can’t be repealed. And when I say that I have in mind any number of laws and associated bureaucracies that have ossified far more than this one will have in the next two or three years.
Put fear of the people into them by any means necessary or deal with what we have. Anything can be overturned one way or another but is unlikely because nobody will consider all the possibilities.
If you cant completely repeal, cant you take it apart one by one?
