One Thing That's 100% Guaranteed: The Healthcare Bill Will NEVER Be Repealed
Joe Weisenthal
Mar. 22, 2010, 9:36 AM
Already Republicans plan on introducing a bill this week to repeal last night's historic healthcare vote.
Obviously that's going nowhere.
But looking out, Republicans will probably try to run on repeal in the runup until November. It's possible that will play okay at the ballot (we don't know) but anyone who thinks this is a realistic prospect is smoking something illegal.
First of all, to repeal the vote would be just as difficult legislatively as passing healthcare was, so just think of how hard that was. Republicans would need 60 pro-repeal votes in the Senate to defeat a Democratic filibuster. And remember, they'd need a President who wouldn't veto the bill (i.e. not Obama or any Democrat).
But even that's putting too fine a point on it. Here's the real story, and it gets down to the fact that this new bureaucratic superstructure is now permanently ossified into our federal government.

Sad. Let’s get out of this rotting hell hole. Problem is, I can’t think of a better country to move to.
Never say never.
it can likely be taken down piecemeal....courts striking down parts of it, GOP majorities starving other parts of it from funding, tax revolts against taxes to fund it, etc.
Maybe not repeal but 85% neutering. (Odds are eventually you would have gotten a Republican bill dealing with pre-existing conditions, etc.)
Call your state legislature and MAKE ONE.
I’m certain Joe Weisenthal is defeated. The rest of us will fight to the end.
Never say never.
Don't tell me this is hopeless.
To be repealed, it first must become law. It will not become law until the question of constitutionality is settled.
This bill will NEVER become law, unless the constitution is overthrown.
The GOP would need at least 70 or more senators and 300 or more representatives to even consider a repeal of this. Given their track record of not only never repealing any entitlements when they had the power to do so, but also creating new entitlements when they had the power to do so, I would not put any stock in them to repeal this.
Stop posting Dem propganda. McCain Feingold was gutted.
DO the Republicans ever even try to repeal any government programs? All they ever do is play defense which assures long-term loss. The democrats have been working on this for decades and all GOP ever did was try to stop it. What they should have been doing was aggressively fighting against current government programs and interference. But, but, the would have lost elections. You have to admire the Dems. They were not concerned about November. Just full speed ahead and act on their evil principles.
Difficult, yes. Impossible, no.
Hell No! We are coming and we are going to kick your ass!
‘zackly.
No sitting legislature can force its will on a future body.
One way or another socialism is always self-repealing. At some point the money has to run out.
The only question is whether when the Titanic sinks there are any lifeboats.
That’s like saying no one could stop Hitler. So, just let the camps continue.
Haven't you heard....Welfare is now a legitimate career choice.
why not....it wont cover anyone for a few years...so why can’t it be repealed...or better yet found unconstitutional.
