One Thing That's 100% Guaranteed: The Healthcare Bill Will NEVER Be Repealed
Joe Weisenthal
Mar. 22, 2010, 9:36 AM
Already Republicans plan on introducing a bill this week to repeal last night's historic healthcare vote.
Obviously that's going nowhere.
But looking out, Republicans will probably try to run on repeal in the runup until November. It's possible that will play okay at the ballot (we don't know) but anyone who thinks this is a realistic prospect is smoking something illegal.
First of all, to repeal the vote would be just as difficult legislatively as passing healthcare was, so just think of how hard that was. Republicans would need 60 pro-repeal votes in the Senate to defeat a Democratic filibuster. And remember, they'd need a President who wouldn't veto the bill (i.e. not Obama or any Democrat).
But even that's putting too fine a point on it. Here's the real story, and it gets down to the fact that this new bureaucratic superstructure is now permanently ossified into our federal government.

If you really believe that we're doomed to live in a Marxist state, then just off yourself now, and keep your defeatism to yourself.
True dat.......self immolation.
I've been calling them "doomers" for some time now (doom and gloom, etc.).
This guy would be whipping some defeatist butt right about now...
You're right. Let's just all roll up in a fetal position and wait for the goon squads to take us away to the re-education centers.
Better yet, why not make the next major Tea Party a mass "die-in"?
Pathetic.....
This is true - it won’t be repealed... Because the Republicans will collude.
People like you simply infect willing warriors with your pathetic, defeatist drivel.
If you feel so confident that your country is lost, then go quietly to whatever tomb suits you best, but spare the rest of us your demoralizing mumblings.
Well, it generally is quite difficult to end a program once it has been implemented, at least legislatively. Not impossible, but difficult.
In the near-term, I’m more hopeful that parts of the health care bill will be struck down as unconstitutional by the courts then any sort of legislative relief.
Long term, I see a bit more hope. There will be a window, IMHO, where enough voters will dislike the early results of “reform” that a GOP/conservative majority in Congress could chip away at the program. That window will only last so long, though. A generation from now (and perhaps sooner), Obamacare would be so ingrained it will be as sacrosanct as other “third-rail” government programs.
Prohibition is another example of legislation that got repealed. I now refer to the HR3590 HC Bill as ‘THE BOONDOGGLE”...how appropriate.
Amen. And other legislation from the New Deal was also shown to be a “Boondoggle”....so now the HR3590 HC Bill will go down in history as ‘THE BOONDOGGLE’ of all times, as it is going to be a nightmare to implement. WAIT until those young people who voted these jokers in find out that HEALTHCARE isn’t going to be free, and there is a huge fine or jail if they don’t buy it. The s-— is going to hit the fan.
Everyone is extolling the pros, but the cons will surface in ‘THE BOONDOGGLE’ soon...it will be cold water and a slap in the face to those looking for ‘free healthcare’, and some will be shocked. WE need to WELCOME them to the world of marxism, where what is promised always ends up being a disappointment.
Not to be taken literally today, but note his grit as he said....
"Spill their blood, shoot them in the belly, if you stick you hand in a pile a goo that a minute before was your best friends face, then you know what to do"....
Carry on confidently, guy. Report back to me once conservatives have changed the culture, regained the media, the educational institutions, and Congress in numbers large enough to repeal the nanny state. I’m not going to hold my breath waiting for your call.
I guess we can't count on you to man up when the real fighting starts. Duly noted.
We need thousands of patriots with Patton’s grit right now. Actually, they’re out there. It’s time for them to step forward.
Bluster from some keyboard warrior isn’t very persuasive. If you could name me one fact or long term trend that shows any positive character, then there would be some cause for optimism. A few hundred guys at a rally or some tough talk on a chat board about ammo doesn’t qualify as anything serious.
This country has been rotting for over 40 years. The opposition has control of every meaningful institution in the country, and they only promote their own. The financial condition is a trainwreck and its deceleration to hell just took a jump this weekend. The electorate is about to get a huge Mexican infusion, with the help of nominally conservative lawmakers. I don’t want to depress anyone with the facts of life, but avoidance of them only adds to the delusion. How can anyone fight what they don’t admit?
There’s going to be a war.
They’re running the system in to the ground. People aren’t going to stand for this forever.
There is going to be a war.
Note: I did NOT say I wanted a war. I just said there is going to be one.
No more cave-ins such as Newt Gingrich was famous for.
Stand tall.
Prohibition was repealed. Stop with the negative waves. Socialism always FAILS, always.
Assuming we have a very different congress in 2011, the temptation will be great to keep the money and repeal the benefits. Most of us will consider it a small price to pay to slaughter this albatross.
