I was in Washington DC for the protests. I realized by the time the program began Saturday that we probably did not have enough people to make a difference to the tyrants working on destroying freedom. We needed hundreds of thousands, an overwhelming number to truly make a difference.
Of course, we could have made a difference with a tenth of the amount we did have. But, it would have taken sacrifice, it would have taken courage. We could have entered our Capital building and refused entry to those who seek to destroy America. We would have been arrested, perhaps even served some time (I doubt it). But, to be blunt...that is too much to ask of us. We have our lives after all. We have our positions. We shouldn't have to risk those...there are others who do that.
After the program I took my son and walked. We walked around to the various memorials and monuments. We went into the Lincoln memorial and I read the Gettysburg Address...humbled by the image of the tremendous sacrifice our Union and Confederate soldiers made for their causes. They gave their lives, they suffered unspeakable horrors. And President Lincoln, almostly seemingly divinely inspired wrote that beautiful speech to honor them.
We walked by the Viet Nam War memorial, where you cannot walk past with a dry eye as you read all those names on those black granite panels. At each walkway entry to the monument stood guard a small contingent of flag bearing veterans. There to protect the monument to their long ago fallen comrades from the leftists who would so gladly desecrate in their horribly misguided view of what is represented by the beautiful wall. These volunteers stand quietly, without acclaim. The news media will cover and give respect to the anti-war protesters, but the lone contingents of veterans loyally protecting the honor of their fallen comrades will go unnoticed. I don't think they care much about that. I spoke with a couple of them. They had that quiet resolve that serious men with serious business have about them. I shook their hands and thanked them. They truly are the finest still in America.
My son and I walked to the Signers Of The Declaration Of Independence memorial where we read in the sidewalk:
AND FOR THE SUPPORT OF THIS DECLARATION, WITH A FIRM RELIANCE ON THE PROTECTION OF DIVINE PROVIDENCE, WE MUTUALLY PLEDGE TO EACH OTHER OUR LIVES, OUR FORTUNES AND OUR SACRED HONOR.
I contemplated on how much these few men were willing to sacrifice...they were not a poor, starving mob. Indeed, most of these men were well to do by their days standards. They were men of property. What courage, what sacrifice they made. Indeed, it is clear to me that God did have his strong hand in the making of America.
We walked to the World War II memorial. Walked around the pond and looked at the wreaths for each state. How many men and women gave their lives to liberate others for that war? How many died protecting our freedoms so that we at home could live our comfortable lives? How many suffered the horrors of war and survive to live with those horrors for the rest of their lives?
God Bless them all.
Of course we walked over to the Washington Memorial, how can anyone not give homage to the "Father of the US of A" when visiting our capital? What a great man he was/is, his undying, unwavering courage and spirit that kept him going even when the worse was in front of him with no real hope for getting to the other side. How humble to truly grudgingly become the first President, turning down the offers for kingship...
We finally went over to the Jefferson Memorial. This has always been my favorite. I have yet to keep a dry eye when reading Mr. Jefferson's beautiful words of freedom and dignity. Inside the memorial at the top are some of his most beautiful and dramatic:
I HAVE SWORN UPON THE ALTAR OF GOD ETERNAL HOSTILITY AGAINST EVERY FORM OF TYRANNY OVER THE MIND OF MAN.
What are these men thinking today? Are they saddened, angry? Are they proud of our Tea Parties? Are they proud of the states that intend on declaring their sovereignty from a tyrannical federal government?
Do they think that America died without a shot being fired? Without so much more than a whimper of protest?
What do you think?
dalebert has a legitimate question. Most do not know the answer to...
Additional dirt placed over the grave March 21, 2010!
lol! I am praying between insults from a freeper
There’s so much in play it’s tough to watch, because it’s like viewing an autopsy on a beloved family member the way they are ripping apart our country.
It's waiting for zero's signature...which has been widely reported which makes it the law of the land...what is so confusing about that?
Be well, cheers!
confusing because some are saying parts are going to the senate....
I think I will say the mourners Kaddish for the late great United States of America. I realize I may be overly dramatizing this, but, maybe not.
I will be there.
Learned that lesson...
Now learn these:
Raising lots of money won't work;
Electing politicians won't work;
Votes won't work;
Courts won't work;
Nor all together.
But like all things done in attempts to defeat socialism/communism, these lessons have to be relearned every time. Painfully.
There is only one way historically that socialism/communism can be defeated, but must be rediscovered anew each time.
I hope you are correct but that remains yet to be seen.
I just dont know.
Yes you do!
Do motives matter?
NO!
Do decisions in life have consequences?
YES!
The folks in Congress who decided on one party rule, have made a decision, that will have consequences.
I don’t really care why. It is their decision, I don’t choose to muddy the water worrying about why, or what the motives might be. That will not solve the problem they have created for the preservation of the Constitution, and for the survival of a semblance of liberty.
There is not a single patriot and Constitutionalist in this country, that does not know what should be the fate of those who would destroy the very foundation of the Republic, Representative government and the document that is the bedrock of our existance. There is not a single patriot that doesn’t know the word to describe what they have done. In fact there may very well be more than one word to describe what has taken place and the people responsible.
Now government of the people by the people and their individual states, will trump the travesty that is now flowing from the halls of the one party rule headquarters, formerly known as the Capitol building in Washington, DC.
61 Senators, 219, congressmen and women, one president and one vice-president preside over the legislative coup. Congratulations, for now. It is perhaps, unfortunate that this entire fiasco can be hung around the neck of a number of Senators who just couldn’t bring their arrogant selves, to listen to the American people, or recall the word statesman, and what it means. Thus dragging the entire country into this serious and avoidable mess.
Cry Havoc, and let slip the dogs of war.
is what the Dems did last night on us...
We cannot do the same until the other 270 millon wake up. Not holding breath.
Here's the way I see it. When the shooting starts, I own plenty of guns and I'll be there. But when the shooting starts, it will simply be an "us and them" moment.
Probably the best thing George Bush ever said was, “you're either with us or you're against us.” That's the reason the political system has not worked. We've allowed too many people (Democraps AND Rinos) to have it both ways. That's why we are never sure how any of these bastards will actually vote when it counts.
Getting things to reduced to “you are with us or you are against us” is the start of solving this mess. Whether the method used is ballots or bullets, the people we send to Washington have got to stop having it both ways!.
I actually think the Senate bill originated in the Max Baucus committee... was not the House bill.
Maybe I’m not correct, but I seem to remember that it was a new bill.
They’re succeeding and they will NOT stop. They are on a mission.
How RightOnline you are. Hopefully there will be a few million Americans willing to put a stop to one party rule by tyranny in what was a “free” Republic.
Matthew 18:10
Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
You know what? My family is hanging on by a thread and I mean a thread. Sacrifice? Where would I get the money from? For the first time in over 20 years of marriage my husband is barely working. I work but I don’t make enough to cover what we have lost. Even now my pay has dropped.
I will admit I have been on the ropes before, of my own doing, but now it is out of my hands and I’m getting very nervous on how we will make it. And I am not alone, most of my friends are in the same boat.
“Getting things to reduced to you are with us or you are against us is the start of solving this mess. Whether the method used is ballots or bullets, the people we send to Washington have got to stop having it both ways!.”
Ok, now I see your point...you are correct. But, we MUST not forget that if we do win the next election and the next that we need to dismantle the infrastructure of the democrat party. We need to remove the protections for unions for instance and make them compete. We need to remove restrictions on competition in general, all special group rights laws, etc. etc. We need to remove liberal propaganda from our education system, we need to remove liberal judges who rule as tyrants rather than judges following the laws of this nation.
On the other hand, if we do not win in the next election or two...I am not sure we can wait for the second one...we will only save our nation by force. Personally, I think we will have to do the latter. Tyrants do not go away peacefully, never have...never will. Democrats are no different.
