WASHINGTON – In private pitches to Democrats, President Barack Obama says he will persuade Congress to pass his health care overhaul even if it kills him and even if he has to ask deeply distrustful lawmakers to trust him on a promise the White House doesn't have the power to keep.
That, in a sometimes darkly joking way, is what the president is telling Democratic House members as he begins an all-out push to coax Congress into passing his proposals despite voters' misgivings and Republicans' dire warnings.
"He made the case, 'Listen, we put in a very hard year working on health care reform and the time for action is now,'" said Rep. Ron Kind, D-Wis., one of several Democrats who met with Obama at the White House on Thursday.
Obama joked that the political battle has contributed to the recent rise in his cholesterol, Kind said, and the president noted how ironic it would be if health care drove him to his grave.

This whole “health care” push is payback to his union masters so they can put their members on the public dole. Otherwise, even the most hard core union thug realizes that eventually the parasite kills the host. If the company or industry goes belly-up, there goes the pension!
But the thing is, the public option is already in the bill. The SENATE bill, and the dems in the house against the senate bill for NOT having it, did not know it was in there. Now that they KNOW, it might swing the votes in the House. If it does, there IS NO reconciliation. It goes to bam for signing into law! This is ALL a game!

The full bill canot be passed as is under reconciliation. Only the budget parts. The rest of the marxist laws have to be separate.

This entire article does not bode well for Democrats. Another great line: "'It does not feel like 1994,' said the senior Democrat, referring to the year that Democrats were last swept from the House majority. 'In 1994, we didn't see it coming.'"
I am hoping even the ones who voted for HC overhaul are rethinking their positions. A few have mentioned McCain admitting he was wrong on full illegal amnesty after several of his constituetns condemned him for it. They said he came out, admitted he was wrong and that saved him politically.
They also said, they can vote for HC reform as one last swan song but expect to be gone if they are up for re-election. So it depends on what kind of a legacy they think the reform will leave them. Especially since the majority of the public have no clue they are ignoring a 100 trillion unfunded liability and adding another one on top.

Everyone knows Democrats are planning to use the budget reconciliation process to get ObamaCare through the Senate. Less well known is that Democrats are plotting add-ons to that bill to get other liberal priorities enacted—programs that could never attract 60 votes.

I agree that the Dems in the House need to listen to the public here.
The latest spin from the Obama/Pelosi socialist wing has been that the Dems will get hammered in the fall if they don’t pass Obama-care.
I completely disagree. The hammering will be far worse if they do pass it.
Just wait until Joe Public learns that everyone will be forced to buy healthcare insurance, that many of the HSA programs are now gone and that most employers will drop providing insurance and just pay the 8% excise tax.
Lots of soccer Mom’s headed for long lines at the government health clinic with the kiddies while waiting behind the Mexican immigrants for treatment.
That type of stuff is going to stick and stick hard through the 2012 elections.
and the lines from the nose to the mouth, that is hereditary. I know people that have that and so did one of their parents, must be a dominant trait.
