My husband and I find ourselves having to buy a new car. We will not visit any government motors dealership. I’m sorry for them, but I refuse to support government ownership of this industry.
Hard to say this, but Ford is your best bet right now.
Ditto here.
I just bought a new car last week. Preface this with I hate shopping for a new car, especially because I am a woman.
My old salesman from Saturn has kept in touch with me, despite the brand going out of business. I finally relented knowing they would have used cars available.
To my surprise and happiness he was able to pull from the full dealership group (which is not GM products) to get me into a brand new 2010 Nissan. Over the course of negotiations, I don’t think there is any love loss between dealers and GM.
I also kept in mind that both GM had offered me $2000 off a new car and Ford offered me $4,000 off both prior to negotiations.
GM isn’t free and clear and may not survive the government takeover. It seems many of my Saturn service people and salespeople have moved on to better things.
I'm with you. The UAW owns a major chunk of GM now, so let their liberal supporters keep them in business.
I was really interested in the Cadillac CTS Sportwagon as a likely next car, before GM became Government Motors. I really like a nice sportwagon, they are essentially SUVs that handle well. Just try following me down a freeway cloverleaf in a top-heavy SUV!
It’s really too bad, I really like the 2nd gen CTS, and the wagon looked really promising.
You should just get a used car and pay it off right away. It’s a bad bad time to get any debt right now and a used car is as swell as new.
Try a Nissan -- 0.0% financing for five years for many models if you have good credit.
The Sentra has a 5-star crash test rating and gets > 30 mpg highway.
Hint, hint.
(No, I don't sell Nissans or profit in any way from them, I've just had good luck with them in the past.)
Cheers!
I agree with not buying a government motors car, but I’m afraid that we’ll just end up subsidizing the company. They’ll never let their loyal supporters go without a job or lose benefits. Profitability doesn’t matter with the government - just make up the difference with tax payer money.
I guess the next step is to squash Ford with taxes.
F-Obama and Blackie-O. They can both kiss my A$$.
