Tancredo rips Palin: Not 'presidential,' just selling books By Eric Zimmermann - 03/01/10 12:09 PM ET
Former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) ripped into fellow Tea Party favorite Sarah Palin in a recent interview, saying she's not "presidential" and accusing her of simply trying to sell books.
In an interview published yesterday (via GOP 12) Tancredo said he can't see Palin as commander in chief.
"I really dont have this feeling about her as being presidential," he said. "I dont know what it is exactly. I dont know if the issues really are that difficult for her or not.
Tancredo said Palin doesn't seem to be attempting to improve as a candidate and suggested that her goal seems to be to "make a lot of money and stay in the mix."
Tancredo said he's particularly upset that Palin will campaign for John McCain in his primary against J.D. Hayworth, a Tancredo ally:
She has to do this to rise in the party ranks?
I think so.
So she is just as much an unprincipled politician as all the rest of them?
To a large extent.
And you still love her?
I didnt say that!
Well, in your Tea Party speech you pointed out that she could finally say all those wonderful things now shes free from McCain.
I said: Now she can tell it like it is. And she chooses not to.
But Tancredo saved his heaviest fire for McCain, whom Tancredo has long disagreed with on immigration reform, among other things.
I dont like him," Tancredo said flatly. "He is not a very pleasant person. He is nasty, mean; the skin of an onion would look deep compared to his. He has a short fuse, he is almost peculiarly unstable.
I’m shocked that he would say something like that. What was he thinking?
And you show me one Republican who resents another "cashing in" (as you put it), and I'll show you a two-faced RINO.
Good to know you're not one of those, Lord knows we've got plenty.

The answer is, Tancredo will support Romney in 2012. Palin or no Palin.
I was a Thompson supporter but in retrospect I think he may have just been a stalking horse for McCain. I know Huckleberry was.
I don’t take away his POW time, but he does seem pretty crotchety.
Tancredo shocked everyone after bowing out in 08 when he endorsed Romney. Of course, word is Romney paid Tancredo’s debt, so Tom has no room to criticize anyone. He’s just another politician, like everyone else.
Tancredo has a long history of speaking before he thinks.
Amen.
Obama is horrible. Let us focus on that!
He’s taking the country in the wrong direction, his leadership skills are invisible and ~ maybe I’m crazy ~ he’s an ineffective communicator. I mean, easily as bad as “Dubya” on a given day. I hated Clinton’s policies, but at least the guy had some game. Obama is a media creation.
McCain’s loss could have been redeemed if he woke up every morning and took a bite out of Obama’s ass ~ he’ll save that for the hapless pubbies. McCain rolled over for Obama again last week at the Deathcare Summit, while Obama was insulting him. WHat a disgrace!
Palin is a natural communicator, has excellent executive intuition (sans the resignation) and would bring the country UP!
Tancredo should hold fire on Palin and take aim at the current POTUS.
Duncan Hunter was the choice ...
Good post.
Let’s compare and contrast on issues to see just who is “presidential”, and who can articulate and defend a policy postion, better than Sarah Palin.
It is also quite clear that those slamming Governor Palin in the areas of intellect, accomplishment, readiness, or knowledge, have not gotten within even sniffing distance of her book.
“Duncan Hunter was the choice ...”

Alas, he never was....

Tanc, who ran for president, isn’t the one to talk.
I am looking so forward to the Republican debates this time. I wonder how Sarah and Romney are going to be going after each other. I think she will attack him as he will her. Remember she wanted to use the Reverend that Obama listened to for 20 years but McCain wouldn’t let her. I think it is going to be a blood bath, BUT very interesting. I am sure Sarah will win but it will be dramatic.
He seems mean-spirited.

Well put TT. McCain needs to go.
I concur, so let's repeat it again:
I dont like him," Tancredo said flatly. "He is not a very pleasant person. He is nasty, mean; the skin of an onion would look deep compared to his. He has a short fuse, he is almost peculiarly unstable.
Who are you calling peculiarly unstable Tanc???!!!
Your observation is the simplest and most cogent expalination of Tancredo’s criticism.
Let us not annoint political saviors. Mostly, the candidates will do what politicians do. It’s not pretty.
Anyway, we have too many messianic presidents already. Better to have one who can get the trains to run on time.
I have to agree...she is another oppotunistic politician...If she is the best we have running in 2012 will will be in trouble...I have serious ‘palin fatigue’...

Duncan Hunter endorsed Governor Huckabee.
Tancredo endorsed Mitt Romney.
