1.3 meters isn't bad at sea, but it remains to be seen what happens as it approaches land.

Couple hundred miles from where the greatest quake ever recorded occurred, a 9.5 in May, 1960

I don’t know. About four feet. Maybe it’s like snow drifts. Twenty-four inches of snowfall equals eight-foot snow drifts.

At 8.1 miles you get a lot more motion at the surface.

“Recalculated as 8.8”
That puts it in the “GREAT” Earthquake category.
BBC is reporting Windows broken and building damage in Santiago, around 200 MILES Southwest of the quake.
And the damage will only get worse, the closer you get.
THAT’S A WHOPPER....

Nine out of the ten largest earthquakes to occur in the last 100 years were subduction zone events. This includes the 1960 Chilean Earthquake, which at M 9.5 was the largest earthquake ever recorded.

OK... here in Seattle we have about 21 hours until the Tsunami gets here. Might not amount to much by then. or maybe it will.Let's all hope not...

Opps - looking at a map they must have said 350 Km - or 200 miles to Santiago. Still - 200 miles is a long way to still have broken windows!
