Glenn Beck tonight: "I contend that most people are libertarian"
02/26/2010

Posted on 02/26/2010 2:51:42 PM PST by Brugmansian

Beck just said he thinks "I contend that most Americans are libertarians because they want that freedom . . ."

So why don't they vote that way Glenn? Why do we have abortion laws? Why aren't drugs legal? Why do voters reject gay marriage? Why do we have laws regulating banks? Why has every proposal to privatize Social Security much less abolish it been rejected? Why do we have "entangling" foreign relationships? Why do we have trade and immigration laws?

I am a conservative not a Republican. You evidently lack the mental maturity to understand the difference. Name one conservative supporting regulating vitamins, dipstick.

See the above post, genius.

RE: who calls himself a conservative

Do you understand the difference between someone being a conservative and someone calling themselves a conservative? Not hard to understand conceptually.

My point was WTF does that have to do with the claim that most people in the country are libtardtarians?

If your standard for conservatism is John McCain then you have no idea what conservatism is slick.

Actually, it’s worse than that. McCain introduced a new bill for this session that further regulates vitamins as drugs.

FR search feature should find the article. I just read it a couple of days ago...

They are all merely parroting or C&P stuff from all these other anti-Beck threads, none of them listen to him, hear what he has actually said or spend more than a moment viewing the TV show. The lies and distortions have been refuted time and again, but it doesn't matter, they have their view and will not be moved from it.

You know what I find fascinating, ColdWater? These very same people who denounce Glenn, "out for himself, only trying to get ratings, sell books" and the like, then they promote what big fans of Rush they are, they seem to think none of us remember when these very criticisms were made of Rush when he first came onto the national scene, after the days in Sacramento. I was there defending Rush, I can defend Glenn in the same way.

And odd again, all the shouts of Glenn being a dope for seeing liberty as the way to go, not a word here about the commonsensical, simple manner in which Judge Tony explained point-by-point, question by question why freedom and liberty were always the choice to make if the other was government control, government getting into your business, government deciding it knows better than you, etc.

How do they argue what Judge Tony had to say last night??

He is not my standard, he calls himself one regardless what my opinion may be. You demanded one be named, I gave you one.

And as Glenn suggested earlier in the year, I'm done arguing with idiots.

He’s not a conservative anymore than Obama is a conservative. Sorry buckwheat. Nice try though.

Yes, that thread is where I pulled that particular quote. On another thread, I asked FReepers if they'd heard anything from Hatch, since he was big-time against this baloney when the GOP tried a decade or so ago to regulate vitamins and minerals, I was concerned that perhaps he might have done a 180, since McCain is his bud and all. A FReeper let me know that apparently he is still against the idea, the opinion that McCain is crazy to even attempt it.

I'll grant that view, in any case, he is not firing on all cylinders.

Yeah right Beck!

Most people are hallucinating baby-killers with the munchies...that love small government.

Oh I almost forgot, and they think democrats and Republicans are exactly alike.

The libtardtarians share one thing with libtards. They’re often moronic and delusional.

The fighting is awful. I watch and listen to them all! I don’t care which is #1, as long as #1, #2, #3 .... are talking our message of freedom. And they call me a Glenn Beck Fool. Of course, they never rebute my facts, they just resort to name calling.

I hope Rush realizes it as well as I think Mark Levin gets it now.

The so-called ‘conservatives’ are not Republican and frankly a lot of them are not ‘conservative’ on issues that Republican Conservatives hold near and dear.

How anyone can count Libertarians in the conservative camp is beyond me or the Paul supporters who want to destroy the Republican Party and bring the Party into the isolationist camp.

Bad enough we have to fight democrats but for the last two years we have been fighting Limbaugh and others who don’t understand what is going on in the trenches and just who these ‘conservatives’ are they are talking about. In NY, there is a Conservative Party who is Conservative but out in Middle America the people trying to take over are anything but Conservative the way Rush seems them.

He is out of touch with Middle America where he grew up. He should have been at our last two Conventions and his eyes would have been opened. This group tried to throw off duly elected delegates to the National Convention and planned to vote for Paul who had few votes in OK.

That is one reason I quit listening because he doesn’t understand what we are going through — you can actually be too conservative and be over the edge just like some liberals are too far left and in both cases they have zero common sense and their ideas are frankly scary.

Over the past 6 months or so, I got the impression sometimes that Rush didn’t care and was about to hang it up. He has been more interested in the personal stuff, as in who is talking about Rush today, what did the president or some other enemy say about him. He started to sound like a paranoic, a la Howard Hughes. And he’s not as well informed as he used to be. He is very isolated and I think that is what you perceived. Only this past week was he trying to get back on board with GOP, but as for what is to come I do not know.

I stop listening when he does something really bad, like accusing Scozzafava of bestiality. That was so stupid and pointless. Rush is much more expendable than he thinks he is.

Thanks for those comments. I used to listen to Rush all the time but all of a sudden I realized he was out of touch with what we were going through in Middle America. We are fighting for Conservative Republican principles and he is trashing Republicans when our guy’s have been fighting hard to slow down the Obama juggernaut.

Then I got really mad when I realized he lumped all the GOP together when Inhofe and Coburn are my two Senators and our delegation has a very conservative voting records except for the Democrat. That told me he was losing his focus on what is really happening in the Country with a lot of good Republicans who are in the Congress.

Really think some of the Republicans we lost in the 2006 and 2008 elections were the more moderates and the people we have left for the most part outside of a few places are rock ribbed conservatives. If I can see it, why can’t Rush?

He’s more concerned with his ratings and going along with the trends... I guess. Laura Ingraham has done the same, which is disappointing because she once clerked for Clarence Thomas. They lost a sense of fairness and it’s all about emotion. The ingratitude for our true public servants bothers me. Instead, they go on witch hunts and have hysterics at the slightest mis-step.

Glen Beck believes in man made Global Warming. This is from Feb 21, 2010.

http://www.usaweekend.com/article/20100219/ENTERTAINMENT01/100218001/Don-t-judge-Beck-by-his-cover

He believes in global warming

“You’d be an idiot not to notice the temperature change,” he says. He also says there’s a legit case that global warming has, at least in part, been caused by mankind. He has tried to do his part by buying a home with a “green” design and using energy-saving products. “I’m willing to do anything but use the CFLs,” he says of compact fluorescent light bulbs. “I put them in once and couldn’t stand the way they lit up the room.”

I’m not that knowledgeable about Beck-he just kind of turned up on Fox, for me. Didnt know where he came from, or that he was on in Tampa.

My coworker half-jokingly says that Beck’s agenda really is to get Obama reelected. He always mentions how Beck talked about voting for Hillary (again with the attitude of there not being an ounce of difference between the two candidates).

I’m not sure why Fox has him on if he is so radical as to be outside the norm.
