(WXYZ) - The FBI is confirming raids at the offices of three Michigan auto suppliers who do work for Toyota.
Search warrants were served Tuesday evening at Yazaki North America, DENSO International and Tokai Rika. Yazaki sells electronic components and DENSO makes accelerator pedals.
Denso has released the following statement about the situation "DENSO International America, Inc. (DIAM), U.S. subsidiary of DENSO Corporation, was inspected on February 23, 2010 by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Department of Justice in regard to U.S. antitrust laws. DIAM is cooperating with this investigation."

IIRC, the whole Dodge Colt was a rebadged Mitsubishi. I once owned a Plymouth Champ, which was identical to the Dodge Colt. It was a Japanese import sold by Chrysler.
I get your point, but I’m not sure anyone in here is interested in logic. I have been a little pompous and I apologized for such, but this is way right wing conspiracy stuff in here. I honestly though I was as Anti-Democrat as they come, but I’m a leftist in retrospect it seems. I’m also a bit of a conspiratorialist myself, but this is too far out there for me. I will say anything is possible when government and money is at stake.
It is sad where we have got to as a human race, really. All of us, not just those in power. Maybe it has always been like this I don’t know. No wonder we need a Savour.

People who drive with the left foot on the brake, and the right foot on the pedal
are asking for an accident. And I'm seeing drivers do this more often these days.
Recently I've been behind drivers who tap their brakes when there isn't any vehicle in
front of them going up an entrance ramp. I swing around and see they are on their CELL!
Many drivers these days are double footing because they are not paying attention to
the road as they should be according to most laws. (Reckless Driving)
Driving behind a double peddler is annoying, and the damage they do is worse.
I blame them for the accidents. And I am certain it's not just Toyo..
From the names it sounds as those the 3 shops were Japanese, Japanese/American owned. They provided two of the parts that have been blamed. I heard elsewhere that it was American parts that had the difficulties, not the ones made in Japan. Perhaps the FBI was seizing parts before possible evidence disappeared. Could there have been graft (inferior production) or Yakuza involvement? Or is it in fact a union sponsored ploy? Time will tell.
This is insanity. So far out of bounds and out of control. His international image is about to be crushed for good. Problem is...so is our economy. Wars have started over less.

Discriminates in such areas have having pretty young women almost entirely on its flight attendent crews for its national carrier and other air carriers, not loud, liberal, over-entitled, unionized, over the hill PMS'ed out lesbians and effeminate men who make traveling a less than pleasurable experience.
Executes criminals and does so without much hoopla at all.
Treats homosexuality generally as a derangement if not humorous.
Has principled people in leadership who not rarely, in taking the ultimate responsibility for a major organizational failure, often take their own life rather than just say "I take full responsibility" and do nothing.
I heard part of a blurb on the radio today that they’re going to do something like discontinue the Hummer; didn’t catch all of it but the part I heard was that only 6,000 (or maybe 9,000?) were sold in all of 2009... Sounds like the American car-buying public is giving General MANager Obama a loud message.

wow... bringing up great memories... my Dad gave me his Dodge Colt when I left for the left coast after college. I drove from Kansas City to San Jose and the windows resonated at precisely 68 mph and stopped at 71. Maybe it had something to do with the melted out rear bumper from the tailpipe getting lodged in the rear bumper and slow-burning the foam inside overnight, or maybe it was just a POS from the get-go. either way, great memories! oh that, and the volare wagon with the on-the-floor stick. fine legacy of questionable auto purchase decisions in my family (including a pinto and a gran torino painted in the only scheme you should really ever consider for one :)

I would bet quite a lot that Toyota knows that almost all of these accidents are caused by driver errors. But they aren’t going to say that because that explanation won’t go over well with the US media and much of the US public. So they’re taking the long view, playing it cool, using Audi’s long-term strategy from the 80s, and just saying the cause is “unknown” and waiting for the media frenzy to subside.
I’m not sure this is going to turn into a hugely successful class action lawsuit either, because there isn’t much evidence of actual defects in Toyotas. When a trial jury hears all the evidence and testimony from the drivers and witnesses, that jury may just decide in favor of Toyota. This isn’t a tobacco lawsuit where there’s a mountain of hard evidence that smoking causes cancer and hear disease. This is probably going to end up more like the Firestone tire recall—very costly but not catastrophic for Toyota. I wouldn’t hesitate to jump into a Toyota and drive one right now.
Toyota is not like GM in any way. There quality is still excellent. There’s no doubt in my mind that almost all of the accidents blamed on “defects” are actually caused by drivers mistakenly stepping on the gas pedal instead of the brake. The same thing happened with the Audi 5000 back in the 80s and as far as I know Audi concluded there was nothing wrong with the 5000 model and drivers were just stepping on the wrong pedal.
Good choice and you will probably never have any significant problem with your Toyota. There’s no doubt in my mind that almost all of the accidents blamed on “defects” were actually caused by drivers mistakenly stepping on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal.
