Yeh, I know, the only difference was the logo, but the Mitsubishi engine was reliable, and I could still tell all the neighbors I bought American.LOL

I used to laugh at the Chrysler TV commercials about buy American, because Chrysler had so many foreign components/cars.

My 1980 Mitsubishi engine was not reliable, at least in terms of the emission controls, which caused endless problems. The EGR valve would stick. The strange choke also stuck. That was before electronic fuel injection eliminated a lot of gimmicky mechanical emission-control devices. I had an early BMW which had a "gulp valve" in the air pump system, made by GM, which required frequent replacement at $20 a pop.
