The government said Tuesday that foreign demand for U.S. Treasury securities fell by the largest amount on record in December with China reducing its holdings by $34.2 billion.
The reductions in holdings, if they continue, could force the government to make higher interest payments at a time that it is running record federal deficits.
The Treasury Department reported that foreign holdings of U.S. Treasury securities fell by $53 billion in December, surpassing the previous record of a $44.5 billion drop in April 2009.

Yup. See my posts on this thread about hyperinflation

Does that mean that Treasury Bonds are not a good investment?
the list
Well, maybe you don't.
Some citizens make out just fine under inflation. These people are usually called debtors. But even someone who just has real assets (as opposed to cash assets) benefits because the government is effectively repudiating the debt by inflating the currency which lessens the debt burden on the citizens.

Or they try to suck out the inflation (treasury debt.) by “Steal Care.”....you know cause it’s all about “health.”
everyone in the USA is hunkering down and stuffing money in matresses until the Obama hurricane blows over, and now its spreading to the rest of the world
the guy has a brown touch, every thing he touches turns to poop
every time Obama opens his mouth with another BS speech (which is twice a day) the entire world cringes and hides their money
>> The were holding interest bearing paper; and now they are holding non-interest bearing paper.
Maybe they have some place better to put their money.
I hear Greek sovereign debt is yielding pretty high these days.
:-)
>> How do you know that? Smart money is now going into real property — real estate, gold mines, etc.
How do YOU know THAT?
Bump so I can find this later
So your answer is a yellow colored metal substance? I have the stuff at 1,180.00 an ounce.
It means an immediate end to all government spending that is not mandated by the Constitution and likely a default on SS/Medicare and on government debt.
Joy....
Got trouble spelling?.....LOL !
You can use mylar liners. Regular plastic is porous and does not keep out air.
Place the liner in the bucket, fill with wheat, rice, etc., place some oxygen absorbers on top, heat seal the mylar bag using an iron. Wait until the next day to pound down the lids, because the oxy absorbers will make the liners contract; you don't want the sides of the bucket to suck in.
That's okay if your container won't rust and will keep rodents from gnawing holes in them.
For later.
“Some citizens make out fine.”
Correct. And their names will be Bernanke, Geithner, Paulson, etc.
Let me amend my statement to suit your hubris: Most citizens will get the shaft.
100% correct.

That’s very useful info, Max. Many thanks.
