PHOENIX, ARIZONA. FEBRUARY 14, 2010. Presidents Day will be the day an almost-President will formally feel a hard charge from his right.
Conservative former Congressman and talk radio host J.D. Hayworth will announce his campaign for the U.S. Senate, a seat now held by the 24-year incumbent John McCain, at Hayworth's new campaign headquarters in Phoenix.
Republican stalwarts, Team Party patriots and a few surprises will be on hand.
The Hayworth campaign will also launch a Money Bomb on Monday too. Details about this online fundraising effort can be found at www.JDforSenate.com, which formally debuts with Hayworths announcement.

On what planet?
SSS Two....just out trolling?
McCain is no conservative. And if he’s nominated, the Dems will run only token opposition like always.
Bring it! I am now a little more than halfway through JD's book, "Whatever it Takes" which, if you didn't know, is actually about illegal immigration. I think it makes a little more sense now why he was ousted from his seat...there are many, many people who have a vested interest in keeping the status quo going on the whole illegal thing. JD doesn't pull any punches in the book, and I think he also ticked off Karl Rove at one point.
Go, JD!
That’s a laugh. McCain is no conservative.
A guy who promotes amnesty, signed onto TARP, wrote a law against free speech, sought to protect terrorists from torture for the sake of appearances? A guy who has trashed conservatives for years and called Christians agents of intolerence petutantly because they didn’t support his bid for the presidency? The guy who was helping good judges be blocked from appointment by helping behind the scenes to craft the Gang of Fourteen deal? I want NOTHING to do with this man anymore then he wanyts a thing to do with conservatives.
Hell, he flirted with being Kerry’s running mate andchanging parties! Screw him and anyone who supports the fraud.
You need to pay a lot more attention.
I think dumping McCain is the ultimate message to the RNC et al that we’re tired of RINOs etc and are moving back to the right. As such your statement that McCain is a conservative honestly leaves me scratching my head. Regardless I think it’s absolutely a fight worth fighting if you have the wherewithal to do so.
Don’t forget, McCain introduced his own CAP AND TRADE bill years ago.
“I guess a guy caught up in the Abramoff scandal needs to pay his legal bills somehow. I hope no one on FR is duped.”
Juan McLame, is that you?
Yes. This is a great opportunity to tell McCain and the rest of the RINOs that we are active and paying attention.
Go JD!
J.D. was attacked for his conservative principles in AZ. The state is broke and the liberals there are to blame. It is not a waste of time or effort. Compare AZ to any other state in the union and they fall remarkedley close to the bottom on all fronts regardless of what KSAZ tells you.
It's better than Team Baggers I guess, but not much. His team doesn't appear to know what the movement is called.
“I think dumping McCain is the ultimate message to the RNC et al that were tired of RINOs etc and are moving back to the right.”
Excellent point. Dumping McLame, after the conservative revolt over the party boys backing Scuzzybutt in NY23, could go a long way to finally getting the RNC’s attention.
If we send McLame to the Old Folks Home, it’ll be a new day in Republican circles.
And we will never change the party unless we do it in the primaries. Hayworth has offered to fight the good fight and knows full well McLame will fight dirty against him (though McLame always pulls his punches against Dims).
We need to support J. D. with generous donations.
C'mon now...he was the standard-bearer for the GOP in 2008. An overwhelming majority of our fellow FReepers voted for him. Not only that, they said that voting for conservative candidates from other political parties (Chuck Baldin, Bob Barr, etc.) was a vote for Obama!
Of course McCain is a conservative. < / sarc >
I don't know where you're from but if you're not from AZ, you may not be acquainted the wave that's building to sweep JD into mccain's senate seat.
If you are serious about sending a message to the RINO's in the GOP, then you should be part of this movement.
If you're willing to let the Tea Party movement sputter out and die, then just sit on the sidelines.
But we are going to do everything we can to unseat mccain. He's ready for immediate retirement and we aim to see that he enjoys it sooner than later.
Just donated $10.00 to JD’s campaign to get the ball rolling. No more RINO’s.
Would a true conservative:
1. Author and promote an amnesty bill, thereby diluting the value of American citizenship?
2. Author and promote a campaign finance bill designed to limit free speech?
3. Campaign on a cap & trade policy, so as to "fight Global Warming"?
While McCain has done some conservative things, he is by no stretch of the word a "conservative".
The most accurate descriptor is "opportunist".
Like you, I suspect he'll probably win. Incumbency can be too big a hurdle to surmount. But I damn sure hope he loses...and have put my money where my mouth is.
Oh, in case you're wondering. Yes, I voted for him in the general election -- because I judged he would probably be better for the country. But I wasn't certain of even that...
Tomorrow I will donate $ 9.12
