Breaking...
“Ordinary” graft and corruption is one thing, but Murtha hamstrung our National Defense by funneling DoD dollars through the front companies of his cronies on projects that the Pentagon didn’t want or need. Legislators routinely misdirect billions of our taxpayer dollars in exchange for a few hundred thousand bucks worth of campaign donations and special favors.
Because of his close call in ABSCAM, he laid low for a quarter-century, then in autumn ‘05 he decided to leap into the national spotlight by cynically riding the anti-war issue to fame and glory. His lust for the spotlight induced him to throw away any semblance of ethics and he really went over the line when he accused fellow Marines of cold-blooded murder without knowing the evidence, and when they were acquitted, he refused to apologize.
In my book, that puts him beyond the pale.
I realize I am not supposed to speak ill of the dead but.....

John Murtha never apologized for supporting Code Pink whose efforts supported our enemies in Fallujah that lead directly to the deaths of Young Marines in the battle there.
John Murtha never apologized to the United States Marine Corps for the damage he personally did to its reputation because of his unceasing attacks on the conduct of young Marines in battle.
John Murtha never apologized to the country as a whole for his role in ABSCAM, especially since he was not convicted for taking money, the only reason he was not convicted was because HE HELD OUT FOR EVEN MORE MONEY THAN THE FBI COULD PAY HIM IN THEIR STING OPERATION.
John Murtha never apologized for one of the grossest waste of money earmarked in Congress, his only personal airport that allowed him to commute to and from Washington DC at his leisure anytime of the day on a scheduled airliner that was never filled to more than half its capacity.
John Murtha never apologized to congress for his blatant disregard for parliamentary procedures when he counted the aye and nays any way he felt like it to push through his own agendas.
I have prayed for John Murtha, prayed with my whole heart and soul that the gall with which this man has harmed this country and especially his Fellow Marines would somehow cause him to apologize for all the wrong he has done. In the end my prayers were in vain, and the unmitigated gall with which this man thrived upon ended his life.
When the Army or the Navy ever gaze on heavens scene,
They will find John Murtha is UA from his post....

The blame is not all on Murtha. Blame the brass, too. And they can hide their complicity better.
We all die. I will not be a hypocrite: He lived his life in such a way that he will not be missed by many.
I wonder what monument to him the govt will build at our expense?
Yeah, the piety around here feels phony or forced.

It’s gonna turn into a fest of either “I hated him more than you did” or “I can restrain myself better than you can out of respect for his family.” It’s kind of funny.
I wish it would never have been reported here. To me, saying nothing would be the greatest indication of our feelings.

God may answer some prayers, but the people must work to help themselves. Otherwise we could just sit and pray and leave it to Him. The ‘Tea Partiers’ have done a lot.
