I live in Ledyard,(SE CT) and I felt it here. It was just a distant boom; didn’t think anything of it at the time. Damn.

Dainty CT banned coal as a fuel over 10 years ago. This appears to be a natural gas explosion.

You would think that testing could be done during business hours instead of forcing workers to sacrifice worship on a Sunday morning. Oh this is CT, nevermind. Very few CTites that believe in God anymore.

In the same way a poster pointed out that we would never hear if terrorism is involved in any event these days — we will never hear if the push for ‘clean’ energy caused a compromise of human safety for the ‘clean’ cause.

That is not a power plant. No electrical transmission lines.

Natural gas maybe be ‘clean’ but it is certainly more volatile than oil or coal. Oil and coal don’t go beserk at the presence of a simple flame. More ‘clean-ness’ at the expense of human safety.

Right. Terrorism is only terrorism if there’s no hiding it.

The folks at TMI, no. The folks at Chernobyl might disagree!

"If it was Terrorism, it would never be reported by our state run fringe media."

If it was terrorism I'd be looking at the reporter's environmentalist whacko pals in the Bill Ayers gang based in large part upon this comment, "...they are the fossil-fueled electric generating plant..."

Seriously... What does that have to do with the explosion? Unless of course you're an environmentalist moonbat terrorist hell bent on teaching those evil oil barons a lesson by blowing up their plant.

JMHO

You’re probably correct. I can’t find cooling towers or intake structure for cooling either.

Betsy Hard, deputy commissioner of the state Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, told The Associated Press that multiple people died but she did not know how many.

Fifty construction workers were in the section of the power plant where the explosion happened at 11:17 a.m., said Al Santostefano, the deputy fire marshal in Middletown. He said he did not know what caused the explosion.

Hospitals that were treating the 14 wounded said late Sunday afternoon that they weren’t expecting more patients.

Dogs were searching for victims in the rubble, but there were no signs of life Sunday afternoon, he said.

Police retract statement that 2 died in Connecticut explosion

Middletown police Sgt. Chuck Jacobucci initially said two people had been killed, but later told CNN he had misinterpreted something heard on a police radio.
