March for Life, Roe vs. Wade Rally Disrupting Traffic in DC

The annual event to march in Washington DC as a pro-choice or pro-life participant is happening today. With streets around the National Mall closed, parking restrictions, as well as fourteen bus lines being rerouted and the slowing of commuter trains from Maryland, traffic Disruption in Washington DC is a big concern today.

The National Organization for Women, Choice USA and NARAL Pro-Choice America are gathering at noon at the Supreme Court, 1st Street NE between Maryland Ave and East Capitol in Washington DC as well. The Supreme Court decision Roe vs. Wade decided in 1973 to make abortion legal in the United States, thus prompting these organizations and the annual January 22nd rally. Abortion and a women's right to choose or not has been at the forefront of political conflict ever since.

For the March for Life rally, Washington Post states: "At about 11:30 a.m., many of the rally participants will march to the Mall from an event at the Verizon Center. This will require temporary closures along 7th Street NW from F Street to Madison Drive. The main rally is scheduled for noon on the Mall at 7th Street NW. At about 2:15 p.m., participants will march to the Supreme Court. The route will take them north on 4th Street NW to Pennsylvania Avenue, then east to Constitution Avenue and up Capitol Hill to the intersection of 1st Street NE and East Capitol Street. Police will temporarily close the route and cross streets to vehicles during the march."

March for Life is also going virtual this year. Visit their website to find out how. Getting to these places in person might be a problem, but for the residents attempting to simply get around, they've got another thing coming.

Outstanding picture. They disrupted traffic and were pigs to their host city. The grounds after the March for Life are pristine.

“More good than what?”

muslims, corrupt africans, you name it.

“And whose standard do we use, mans’ or Gods’?”

common sense will do fine.

If the Supreme Court can reverse the 100 year long suppressions of free speech culminating in McCain/Feingold, we know they can reverse Roe V Wade and all associated court rulings!

You betcha!

Well if that is not a way to win the public over to our pov, I just don’t know what is.

If the moral compass of "the public" regarding life issues is sufficiently fickle that it can be swayed by traffic patterns, then I'd say that's prima facie evidence that we just don't get it anyway.

Would getting stuck in traffic due to a veteran's parade cause you to abandon support for the armed forces?

But if there were 300 pro-gay activists, we would be hearing all about it.

If this were a march to leagalize gay marriage and there were only a few dozen in attendance, there would be media coverage from morning until night with speakers from the House of Representatives would be out there.

You can follow the march - LIVE -

That’s good to know. When I tuned in to Shepherd Smith’s show, he was spending most of it talking about a stranded dog. I love dogs, but national news?

That’s typical Shep—I don’t watch him.

I was talking about the 9am to noon news programs.

They’ll probably report more this evening on Bret Baer’s show.

I’m not getting it. I don’t understand the directions. All I see is a caterpillar cartoon.

GEE, just think of what 1,000,000+ Tea Party Protesters could do sometime this coming year.

I know it's difficult to organize and have a large participation on a weekday, but I submit we need to send a "message" and SHUT DOWN D.C. for a day!

Maybe then, they will take notice (including the corrupt State-Run Media) and be willing to acknowledge we exist!

Oh Lord no, I happen to be one.

That's what EWTN is broadcasting now. They stopped broadcasting the March for Life, although my daughter just called me from Washington and said people are still at the Supreme Court. I'll see if I can find it archived. By the way, my kids love that caterpillar show! They were excited when the march ended and the caterpillars came on. All that talk about baby killing may have been a bit much for them!

Agreed, even if CNN completely ignores the issue, it makes the traffic news! I think a 1,000,000 Tea Party Protesters in Washington in the summer would be possible. They got over 300,000 pro-lifers on a cold day in January!

Couldn’t find the EWTN coverage archived, but it is repeating at 10PM tonight. It’s at the link above or included in most satellite tv packages. The speeches at the rally were superb!

It was never a pro-choice march and how many anti pro life people show up. Maybe 50 compared to a half million. I wonder on what side of the street this writer was?

We had our first pro life march today and we had more than 50 participants...and that is in a small town.
