Thanks to the ineptitude of Iowa Governor Chet Culver, the state faces a $1 billion budget deficit in the coming year. Last week, Culver delivered his Condition of the State speech and failed to address any concrete ways to solve the crisis. That is because he has no clue how to solve it. Like any good liberal, when in doubt, head to Washington D.C.and beg for more federal taxpayer dollars...

The Big Lug is a continuing embarrassment.
Eat your corn Iowa. That’s another federal program that should be abolished. Get rid of the farm program.
"Barack! Harry! Nancy! I'll take the money! I'll take the money! What do you want me to do? Just name it!!!"
CUT SPENDING !
From the state that launched Obama.
I hate to ask it but.......why do people vote for clowns like this?
What is wrong with Iowa?
Yes, he’s a total embarassment.
He has never considered that perhaps they should discontinue some of the goofy programs he’s initiated, and quit spending money like drunken sailors.
In the Obama administration... a stimulus isn’t stimulative and a created or saved job isn’t a real job.
Not as arrogant as his dad. Not as smart, either.
That makes me wonder if the governor supports ethanol?

"How much money will the states get from the stimulus?
More than $200 billion of the $787 billion package will flow through state governments, but only about $140 billion will be available to plug states debilitated operating budgetswhich fund most programs and services. Much of the boost will come from $87 billion in Medicaid funding and $53.6 billion in a state fiscal stabilization fund to prevent teacher layoffs and other cutbacks in education and other key services. The fund includes $39.7 billion to local school districts and $5 billion to states as bonus grants for meeting key education performance measures; states can apply another $8.8 billion to a wide variety of spending needs, including public safety and school modernization. In addition, the stimulus directs $27.5 billion to highway and bridge projects, $26.6 billion of which is directly apportioned to statesbut these fall under capital budgets."
Living in Nevada, a state that elected the Senate Chief Clown, I can tell you:
Rural states are largely dominated politically by the large cities. In Nevada, Las Vegas (or East East LA as I like to call it) accounts for half the voting populace. You add in the Reno liberal population and you get a purple state. County-wise, however, the state is red all over.
Another “stimulus”? No, it’s a Third Mortgage.
It's the 30th state in population.
The 2009 est is only 3,007,856 people
Its largest city is Des Moines.
Des Moines only has a population of 197,052
The median (household) income is $48,075 (not too shabby)
So HOW can a state like this be broke? And $1 Billion 'broke' at that.
Do they give Medicaid and Free Bus Passes to all the Cows? (farm animals not fat people)
Something is rotten in Iowa. Like someone robbing the treasury blind.
“Something is rotten in Iowa. Like someone robbing the treasury blind.”
Yes, the left has taken over in the state. The largest enclave of outspoken leftists is Iowa City (University of Iowa). Other similar enclaves exist around the state. Farmers vacillate, because they like handouts.
Bingo! Which is why the "stimulus" was such a profoundly bad idea. All it did was delay the inevitable time when states learn to live within their (our) means. California will die a horrible death one way or the other, but better a horrible end than horrors without end.
“That makes me wonder if the governor supports ethanol?”
Iowa and Nebraska are two states that subsidize ethanol in the gasoline at the pumps. Turning corn into fuel is stupid.
