From post #188:
Listening to a radio report on the way into work this morning. Reporter on the ground saying he was in a heavily democrat district with long line at the local poll. He questioned many of them and most said that they are Democrats, but are reluctantly voting for Brown.I fully agree with you about the independent vote. It's the essential factor in a Brown victory. But the mushy % of democrat stability for Coakley, means that there will likely be more of the above happening as well.

because of the overwhelming Democrat voter ID in that state 51% of registered voters in MA are "Unenrolled" (our word for Independent). And I know people who vote conservative (well, as conservative as available!) who will not register as Republicans because of some subconscious atavistic fear that their great-grandmother will come back from the grave and beat the living tar out of them -- I mentioned this to a friend, and she said quite seriously that for her husband, it's his great-uncle.
Remember, in the northeast (does the term "Northeastern Republicans" mean anything to you?), the Republican Party really was the party of "big business", anti-immigrant, anti-Catholic, anti-Jewish. Until 20-30 years ago, local Democrats were actually very conservative -- more conservative than MA Republicans.

"
Know well that as I cast my vote, I had all you freedom loving Americans on my mind. My vote was for you all!" And we have all of you freedom loving Massachusetts citizens voting today on our mind. Doing the right thing for the country at a very critical time. We're all in this together. Onward and upward!!!

I’ve heard there will be perhaps 20 to 25% Dim turnout for Brown. If that happens, it will be a blowout.
Prayers UP!

25% may be stretching it, but it’s an impressive figure, either way, for Massachusetts democrats.

On one of the “other” “underground” sites, they have a thread about turnout. There are quite a few remarks about how slow things are right now. These are generally the downtown Boston areas. There was a response from someone that is in a Boston suburb (and she commented on the amount of Brown supporters in her area) that said that the turnout in her precinct is similar to when Obama was elected.

I am SO happy that you started this thread!
It will give me something to do (other than biting my nails) before the returns start coming in. ;)
Good reading here!

You guys are making us all so proud. If Brown wins, you will have done an amazing thing for all of us and I’m going to cry.
